The Seattle Sounders have started to produce some points of late and yet there's still this feeling of malaise. Sitting at 10th in the West, just outside 'the line', the Sounders head to bottom of the West K.C. and we SHOULD come back with 3 more points, right?

Amidst the congested MLS and Open Cup special the Seattle Flippin Sounders defeated Phoenix Rising at Starfire on May 22nd to advance to the quarterfinals for the 7th time in the MLS era. They're up against the same club, Sacramento Republic, who knocked them out of the tournament in 2018.

The Sounders draw to Vancouver at Lumen Field 1-1. That's it. Nothing to really talk about.

EXCEPT Pro Referees and how VAR is implemented is at an infuriating level of incompetency. Then again... so are the Sounders right now.

Sounders advance to the round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in dramatic fashion! And that was probably the most dramatic match of 2024. We spent an hour fending off a Louisville City SC club that was swinging wildly and were up 2-0 at 63' thanks to goals by Rothrock (Georgi) and Musovksi (Leyva)... then it got nervy.

Louisville clawed back and tied it by the 89th leading to extra time and then our savior, our buff blonde, our stache betwixt the sticks... carried us to victory in penalties.

Now we invite Phoenix Rising to Starfire on May 22nd. Will Andy need to deliver us from near defeat again?

The Seattle Sounders get a win in a game that started in the past. A first half 3-0 lead shrunk to a 3-2 final against Philadelphia Union. Raul was the star and Obed get's his first official goal... but should he have been even on the field? This follows a loss against DC United that at first felt like a resurgent Sounders squad after a woeful start to 2024 then a Frei red card changed the game... but apparently that wasn't a red card. It's been a helluva week folks.

FIVE GOALS. The Sounders scored FIVE goals and gave up ZERO against CF Montreal. We needed a performance like that. We knew the results were not indicative of the club as a whole thus far but anything but a dominating victory would have further clouded our expectations for this season.

PS we had to cut a bit short thanks to a 7 week old.

That was a gut punch. Kinda fun match though! Sounders lose 3-2 vs San Jose in San Jose. In what was both an exciting and excruciating match Seattle came back from a depressing 2-nil deficit via another Panenka PK from Ruidiaz and, as you expect, a great goal from Musovski fed by Cody "Bread Breaker" Baker.
