The Washington Post reports that the false accusation that led authorities to temporarily separate Pete Buttigieg from his twins came from a source later viewed by investigators as potentially mentally unstable. The case has sparked scrutiny of how child-welfare complaints are screened and investigated, and both Michigan and Indiana authorities are now reviewing aspects of what happened.
