  • From the Vault: Marie Laveau — The Voodoo Queen of New Orleans
As New Orleans' oldest burial ground, St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 holds centuries of history, but its most infamous resident is undoubtedly Marie Laveau, the undisputed Queen of Voodoo. Born in 1794, Laveau rose from a French Quarter hairdresser to an incredibly powerful and respected figure, leveraging town gossip, traditional herbal medicine, and a blend of African rituals and Catholic traditions to heal the sick and aid those in need. Long after her death in 1881, her final resting place in the Glapion family crypt remains a supernatural lightning rod, drawing massive crowds who knock on the stone, leave offerings, and carve red Xs in hopes of securing a favor from her spirit. In this vault episode, In this episode from the vault, Allen Sircy bypasses the Hollywood myths to explore the real history of Marie Laveau, the aggressive modern vandalism that forced the Archdiocese to lock down her tomb, and the eerie phenomena that still target anyone who dares to disrespect her grave.

  • Key West's Lady in Blue
At 428 Greene Street in Key West, Captain Tony's Saloon is famous for its ties to Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett, but beneath the tropical music lies a history built on death. Originally an 1850s icehouse used as a makeshift morgue for shipwreck victims, the bar also encloses a notorious chinaberry tree once used for public executions—a grim legacy corroborated in the 1980s when workers unearthed an 1822 gravestone hidden beneath the floorboards. Today, patrons and staff frequently report phantom footsteps, moving objects, and chilling encounters with the venue's resident ghost, the Lady in Blue. In this episode, Allen Sircy strips away the island glamour to expose the violent history and persistent hauntings of one of America's most haunted bars.

  • The Mount Auburn Axe Murder
In 1884, Irish immigrant Patrick Hartnett brutally murdered his wife with an axe inside a cramped Cincinnati tenement room while their six children watched in terror. Instead of fleeing, Hartnett dropped the weapon and danced a jig next to her corpse. His unpredictable behavior continued all the way to the gallows of the Ohio Penitentiary, where a botched calculation on the drop effectively decapitated him in front of a horrified crowd. The story took an even more macabre turn a year later when a local tannery foreman claimed a doctor had tried to purchase Hartnett's body to turn his skin into leather. In this episode, Allen Sircy reconstructs the deeply disturbing case of Patrick Hartnett, a man whose savage crime was rivaled only by the grotesque legend he left behind.

  • From the Vault: Prohibition and Mutilation
Tucked away off Calhoun Square on Abercorn Street sits Savannah’s infamous Espy House, a home steeped in dark, conflicting Prohibition-era legends. One local tale claims the corrupt, bootlegging Judge Espy covered up the brutal mob execution of his own son, Wesley, after a gangland romance went sour. Another even darker rumor attributes the hauntings to a drunken domestic dispute between the Judge and his wife that accidentally crushed Wesley’s young daughter beneath a heavy marble kitchen table. In this vault episode, Allen Sircy digs into the gruesome folklore behind the property and the tragic apparitions that visitors still claim to see wandering the halls and staring from the second-story windows.

  • Watch Out For a Friend: The Murder of Robert Alston
In 1879, a blood feud shattered a longtime friendship when politician Robert A. Alston and businessman Edward Cox drew pistols inside the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, leaving Alston dead and Cox headed to prison. The root of their deadly falling out was a corrupt, post-Civil War prison labor system that turned close allies into bitter rivals. Today, both men rest just yards apart in Decatur Cemetery, but local folklore insists their fatal argument never actually stopped. This episode uncovers the real-life betrayal, the chilling prophecy that predicted it, and the Georgia ghost story of a feud that refused to stay buried.

  • Tennessee Tales Tuesday: The Last Laugh
On the corner of Eighth and Douglas in Nashville, a comedy club draws weekend crowds looking for a laugh, but the building’s heaviest history stays backstage. In 1984, comedian Ron Douglas was fired from the venue after a battle with alcoholism, leading him to spend his final, lonely hours drinking himself to death inside the club's green room. Decades later, employees and comics still report unexplainable footsteps, moving menus, and swinging lights over the old liquor closet. In this episode, Allen Sircy explores the tragic final act of Ron Douglas and the enduring legend of the comedian who refused to leave the venue he loved.
