This week we cooked off of Bon Appétit's Best of 2019 lists. Alissa made French-ish Onion Soup and Marie made Chicken and Rice Soup with Garlicky Chile Oil. Check out the ep to see if we think they deserve the list (the opinions that matter MOST).

We <3 shrimp!!!!! Today's ep brings you coconut shrimp (which we have been fantasizing about for weeks) by Alissa and shrimp dumplings by Marie. Cheers to our fave shellfish. 

This week we cooked from Priya Krishna's Indian-ish! Marie made Saag Feta (aka Spinach & Feta cooked like Saag Paneer) and Alissa made Kachumber Tilapia. We also waxed poetic about 2019 and our hopes and dreams for 2020. Woo!

It's Hanukkah, so naturally, we dedicated this ep to--hot take--one of the best possible iterations of potatoes: the latke. We filled ourselves with two versions of extremely delectable potato pancakes (one by Mark Bittman of the NYT, and one by our girl Ina) and a large quantity of apple sauce and sour cream (because we have souls in our bodies and brains in our heads), and we'll just say that the only way to f this up is to not make latkes at all. This week is dedicated to Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen, a queen among queens whom we LOVE. Her second cookbook, Every Day, is the star of this ep. We selected Cacio e Pepe Potatoes Anna and a Parmesan Dutch Baby with Creamed Mushrooms. And yes, we're smitten.

This week we half cooked from Bon Appetit's December issue. Alissa made the Crunchy Winter Salad, which is in fact from the issue, and Marie made Stuffing Fried Rice, which decidedly is not. We're serving you one excellent way to use up your Thxgiving leftovers and one to help your body exit what we call the Beige Phase. 

This week we were challenged by a *special*, genetically mandated listener (Marie's mom) to make something chocolate. We said, how bad could that be, MOM?! Alissa made Ina's (yes, Ina! And not under duress!) Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes, and Marie made Derby Pie, per her family's holiday recipe. We feel sick now, but really, is there a more appropriate way to be for a Thanksgiving week ep?

Excited to give you our first ever challenge episode brought to you by a listener and supporter, Taylor MacLeod. He tasked us with creating a Polish specialty, the golumpki aka gołąbki aka stuffed cabbage rolls. Alissa made a vegetarian iteration while Marie tackled the classique. Check it, and thanks Taylor!

This week we cooked from the fabulous cookbook Six Seasons by Joshua McFadden. Alissa made Cabbage and Mushroom Hand Pies and Marie made Mushroom and Sausage Rigatoni. Shoutout to our hot mushroom man! We see you and you're doing the lord's work!

Apples? For Autumn? We know, we know, groundbreaking. We picked 'em so we've got to use 'em, folks! And use 'em we did. Marie made a Persimmon and Apple Salad from Nothing Fancy (shocking!), and Alissa made a CLASSIQUE Apple Pie (mostly) from the NYT. Keep your ears peeled (sorry) in to here how it went.
