Apples? For Autumn? We know, we know, groundbreaking. We picked 'em so we've got to use 'em, folks! And use 'em we did. Marie made a Persimmon and Apple Salad from Nothing Fancy (shocking!), and Alissa made a CLASSIQUE Apple Pie (mostly) from the NYT. Keep your ears peeled (sorry) in to here how it went. 

Baked pasta stans rejoice! Our challenge ep is dedicated to the sauciest, cheesiest b in the game: the lasagna. Alissa whipped up Alison Roman's 'Very Good Lasagna,' while Marie went back to the pod roots and brought Ina's Roasted Vegetable Lasagna to the table. For our October cookbook ep we had the ~pleasure~ of reviewing Alison Roman's second book, Nothing Fancy. We made many items: Buttered Salmon with Red Onion and Dill, Buttered Turmeric Rice with Crushed Almonds and Herbs, Caramelized Garlic on Toast with Anchovies, and the Casual Apple Tart with Caramelized Buttermilk. Our mystery ingredient for October is (~drumroll~): cauliflower! We love this lil guy, and so does Alison Roman, who penned both of our recipes for this week. Marie made Creamy Cauliflower and Onion Gratin from Roman's forthcoming second book, Nothing Fancy, and Alissa made Cumin-Roasted Cauliflower with Pine Nuts and Dates. Tune in to hear the deets!

This week's ep is a fall thunderdome: apple cake v. apple cake! Claire Saffitz v. Julia Turshen! Fancy v. Unfussy! Whipped cream v. CC frosting! Who will win? Only time will tell. Sorry about that title...we simply HAD to lead with the woman of the hour: Chrissy Teigen! This week we're cooking out of Cravings. MM whipped up the Chinese Chicken Salad
with Crispy Wontons. AA delivered the viral Sweet & Salty Coconut Rice AND (a twofer! She couldn't help herself) the Herby, Lemony, Garlicky Roasted Whole Fish, which had us wondering if Chrissy Teigs was getting paid by the word. But we digress. Tune in for a joy-filled episode that might just have you feeling some cravings of your own.

We're baaaaack! It's Szn 2 and also tomato szn--and we think that this might be the best seasonal combo of all time, but you can be the judge of that.
