Spark My Muse

Catapulting into a top-rated iTunes podcast “The Liturgists”, Mike McHargue and crew found themselves inundated with science-related questions. Hence, the spin-off podcast "Ask Science Mike" was born.

In it, Mike lets supporters of the show select the questions he answers–anything from questions people would be terrified to ask their pastors or friends like: what is the science behind why an adult might be sexually attracted to a child; to questions that intersect with the spiritual–like what is the science behind why we might pray to a God we have decided we don’t believe in anymore.

Our conversation gets into ideas about “hearing from God”; superstition; Mike's own journey from Fundamentalist to Atheist and to spiritual skeptic; his surprising rediscovery of the concept of the Trinity; and the roots of mystery within the Christian faith tradition that many people in the West know little or nothing about.

PLUS-I ask Mike some special science questions of my own. His answers are so impressive that I’ve made them a REWARD for the people I adore: my wonderful Spark My Muse fans and friends. This audio is FREE for anyone contributing (a DOLLAR or more) to the show! Not supporting yet? No problem. Support the show for access to Mike’s answers and ~MANY~ other offerings and extras. The stories of Peter Rabbit and Margaret Wise Brown’s book Goodnight Moon captured my imagination as a child. Animals behaving as humans seemed both real and unreal in the most adorable and fascinating ways.

Humans can’t help personifying everything from pets and nature to machines and natural forces. We are intelligent social creatures. We crave to create sense from chaos and we love to makes the things nearby into our image. It’s what makes for the best stories, legends, and myths too.

But what about when the Real bumps up against the personified story? What about the Divine? That’s today’s topic on Soul School.

A REMINDER - There will be BONUS AUDIO with the one and only ASK SCIENCE MIKE this Friday, June 24, 2016. Access will be FREE to anyone for $1 (or more). Sign up NOW, and get instant access, with no waiting, as soon as the show drops. Go to https://patreon.com/sparkmymuse

[ IF YOU’VE THOUGHT -I should chip in one dollar- and you’ve WONDERED when exactly that should be? That time is NOW. You don’t want to miss Mike’s bonus audio. He is truly an incredible guest with a WEALTH of knowledge at his beautiful mind. I’m over-the-moon excited to share this with you!! ]

I NEED YOUR HELP, today.

Though the show is now heard in 152 countries, very few people contribute financially, so money is tight. I may not be able to keep going. It takes me 30 hours a week to do the show and costs hundreds of dollars per month, out of my own pocket. It's a pace and cost I cannot continue alone.

- You can keep the show alive by supporting with just $1 or more at https://patreon.com/sparkmymuse - - REMEMBER- Rewards, and extras are there waiting for you when you do! Plus special events (classes, and live conversations with surprise guests, etc) are open to supporters ONLY.

(Maybe you have no CASH - but you REALLY want to help? Here are other options:

1. SPREAD the word exuberantly with links to episodes;

2. WRITE a positive review on iTunes,

3. WRITE a blog post about the show,

4. HAVE me as a guest on your blog or podcast, etc;

5. FIND your own creative way to be helpful.

(You guessed it! I’ll get whatever help you are willing to give. Thank you so very much.)

- - Send me a note about HOW you've helped and I'll let you in to the next special LIVE event! cool?

- - ONE MORE THING. Stayed TUNED IN this SUMMER! Summertime 2016 has a full lineup of wonderful guests. There's no summer break for Spark My Muse-so take me on vacation with you!

Keep YOUR Spark shining in the world, my friends.
