This episode continues with the theme of Satisfy the beast. Remembering we are conscious agents living inside a physical body with its own set of wants needs and desires sets up for success in a lot of ways. Last weeks episode focused on mental health while this weeks Episode focuses more on the physical benefits.
In this episode Owl walks you through listening to your beast which is the first step in satisfying it as well as shares some stories and examples of how it can bring about great physical benefits.
I also touch on the work by Esther Gokhale on J v S shaped spines.

This is part 1 in a 2 part series on "Satisfy the beast" which is a short hand reminder to help us remember that our bodies are naturally incredible but our hardware is somewhat out-dated when it comes the way it processes stress. Not due to bad design but due to how dramatically the world has changed in the last 50 to 100 years.
In this episode Owl discusses design and maintenance of the human animal to bring about health & balance. "Satisfy the Beast" can be used in many areas of life but in this episode the focuses is on how empathy is being manipulated and left unregulated by good people is causing many folks to have even more stress related health problems.
The connection between empathy and depression might seem obvious but the stress from empathy in our modern world is just as related to anxiety, OCD autoimmune disease and even asthma. Satisfy the beast to signal to your body that whatever stress we face is behind us even temporarily so we finish closing the loop on our trauma responses.

This weeks episode is a follow up on last weeks. Its all about stacking your life. Putting like or compatible things together, combining them throughout your day in a way that boosts productivity just by shuffling around your schedule.
You need to walk and you need to buy groceries so why not walk to the grocery store?
you want to read and you have a commute so bring your book.
You already stack your life accidentally overtime realizing the efficiency of it but if you make it intentional its that much more powerful
There's a deeper layer too. Stacking your life is a type of living intentionally. Intentional living is the harder of the two because it require a person to know ones self.

Welcome to the first ever episode of Speak Plainly with your host Owl Medicine.
In episode 1 I lay out some groundwork for the podcast and discuss one of the most powerful concepts that I use as a prescription for my daily and professional life. "Done is Better than Perfect." Perfect doesn't exist so that seems like it should be obvious and easy but its not. Ask any artist, especially the great ones and they'll tell you pieces are not finished they're abandoned. Perfectionism is not your friend or your superpower. Perfectionism is just fear in high heels. So whatever you've been putting off for whatever reason, just do it. Done not only IS better than perfect it FEELS better than perfect! Give it a try.
Theres also a second philosophy to live by so check it out.
Lastly, I have a secret. Everything I'm doing right now, each and every thing, is stacked in a way to push me closer to my biggest goal ever. Dreaming this big is so scary and exhilarating at the same time! Listen to find out what my ultimate exciting and terrifying goal is!
