Spirituality Untamed

At the heart of Spirituality Untamed, the focus has always been on seeking a free, wild, and untamed spirituality. God designed each and every single one of us with our own unique gifts, talents, and dreams. I’ve only recently started exploring some of my own and it’s allowed me to be in a more fun and creative headspace. In doing so, I've found aspects of my life that I want to create more space for.

By stepping into my unique gifts, talents, and dreams, I am allowing room for more growth. That’s the beautiful thing about spirituality is in the right headspace, we become more free, wild, and untamed. Have your goals already changed for 2021? Then you’re in good company!

A year ago, everyone’s life changed in some capacity. Given the circumstances of covid, a global pandemic, social distancing, quarantining at home, mask mandates, and life being turned upside down, it’s no wonder our goals have changed.

Even after one year removed from all the chaos of 2020, many of us are still picking up the pieces. Many of us are still learning how to shift, pivot, and maneuver through change. Many of our goals are still being re-calibrated and many plans are still up in the air. Given that we have lived through another year, through a global pandemic, might I add, it’s okay if what you thought you wanted is no longer in foresight.

And if hindsight really is 2020, then we can learn a thing or two about change.

I am healthy, I am wealthy, I am rich, anddd I’m totally dying inside. Okay, not really but spirituality totally feels that way sometimes. Can you believe February is already over? Like, Monday starts not only a new week but an entire new month! My husband and I have had an entire week full of snow days. We have been enjoying the last bit of the Winter season. And here's the thing. We have never seen this much snow in our hometown before. For an added bonus, our Siberian Husky has literally been living his best life.

And you know what? These snow days have been spiritual! Because I believe that Everything is Spiritual, I believe that there is always some life lesson lingering in any given situation. Life is short. We’re not promised tomorrow. While most of us recognize this truth, many of us still operate as if we have all the time in the world. But I no longer give my time away to things and ideas and people don’t serve me. And I mean this in the least selfish way possible.

If I am going to live my life to the fullest, if you are going to live your life to the fullest, then we shouldn’t let the things that don’t matter take up most of our space. Life is short so stop giving your time and energy to things that don’t serve you.

Did you know that fashion is spiritual? When you embark on your spiritual journey, things are constantly changing and evolving. Your beliefs, your environment, and your relationships, so it’s no wonder that your style is an essential part of that beautiful experience. Your style and the clothes you wear follow you in every part of your life.

I mean, think about it. There’s a specific style for every occasion. Need a little black dress for that fancy dinner party? Shopping around for the best yoga pants for your gym routine? Did you know that your thought life heavily influences your actions?

For most us, we can agree that our mindset can dictate how we show up in our environment. But how often do we actually believe this? How often do we pay attention to the way our thoughts and beliefs manifest into our reality?

Recently, I allowed myself to focus on a negative belief system that ultimately caused me to stop in my tracks. After I sat with it, I had to reevaluate what truth I was willing to tell myself. It took a few days but after I realized what I was allowing myself to believe, I immediately shifted my focus.

When people throw around terms like “Spiritual Journey” or “Grounding Practices, what initially comes to mind? Do you think of a monk meditating in the park? Or an active Sunday morning churchgoer? It can often feel overwhelming when spiritual gurus or pastors preach about getting your spirituality centered.

So many people are afraid of stepping out into the unknown and embracing their own spiritual selves because they simply don’t know where to start. They often feel intimidated because they don't have someone linking arms with them and walking them through the different aspects of what it truly means to embark on a spiritual journey. But I want to change that narrative. By no means can we plan for every twist and turn along the way, there are a few key things that we can keep in our spiritual tool belt.

I’ve put together 5 things to expect on your spiritual journey. Last week felt pretty heavy for America. If my friends outside of the country felt the sting of what happened at the White House last week, then my friends here in the U.S. definitely felt the weight of our country.

But yall, we survived 2020. And if there is one thing that 2021 is already teaching us it’s that no matter how dark and heavy life gets, our light shines brighter.

No matter how hard or empty the world feels, the light and love that we carry deep inside of our hearts will never go out.
