We have so much to celebrate over here at Spirituality Untamed. This week marks the 50th episode of this show and not to mention, the very first week of 2021.

With this episode, I wanted to share my word for the year and what big vision goals I am associating with for the New Year. However, in order to set these big vision goals and allow them to come to fruition, I have to adjust my frequency and the level at which I am showing up.

Regardless of where you are at in life and how you want this new year to look like for you, there are a few areas of adjustment that we have to ensure we take heed of in order to be the version we need ourselves to be in order to show up 2021.

We can officially say that hindsight is definitely 2020. While there is nothing magical about the clock striking midnight, can we just celebrate the fact that 2020 is officially behind us?

Like, we are in a completely brand new year full of opportunities. I mean, the possibilities are endless in what we can accomplish together. And I have high hopes for this New Year.

Happy New Year, friends! (well, almost)

If you’re listening to this episode when it airs, then you know we are in the last week of 2020. And if you’re anything like me and the rest of the world, we couldn’t be more excited to see this year go.

Although this past year has been challenging for all of us in a myriad of ways, there are still so many things to be thankful for. There is so much joy to be found in the simplicity of life. In fact, it’s in the simple things that we often find the most joy. Many of us are currently finding ourselves reflecting on this past year and while things may not have been exactly what we envisioned for 2020, in the midst of the chaos, there is still beauty. Wherever you find yourself this holiday season, I hope that in all things, you are able to find those simple joys for yourself.

Do you ever have one of “those” days? You know, one of those days where you wake up irritated and nothing seems to be going your way? Like, no matter what you do, it feels as though you can’t catch a break and that everything that could go wrong inevitably does go wrong?

Yeah, that was me last week! The thing is, about 98% of the things that felt wrong were in my head and how I was viewing the situation. And I learned a valuable lesson that day. I don’t know about you, but some days I feel guilty for taking a day off.

There are times where I find it hard to enjoy rest because I feel lazy in my pursuits.

Even after working long hours on a project, there are still days where I feel like if I’m not doing something productive, I’m wasting my time.

Although I know deep down, this isn’t true, I still have to remind myself that it’s okay to take a day off. In fact, it’s okay to take an entire week off if you need to!

Why?

Because what I have found to be true is that Rest is a Form of Productivity.

And while hard work pays off in the end, being intentional about our rest is equally important (if not more) to how we show up in the world.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Actually, there are quite a few things to celebrate this week. Not only is it Thanksgiving week, but we are also celebrating two major birthdays today! 

First, Spirituality Untamed is ONE year old! That’s right, we have been at it for one whole year. Even though a year ago this show had a completely different name, vision, and mission wrapped around it, we've had a whole year's worth of conversation! We have been digging deeper into our own spiritual journeys and that’s worth celebrating. 

Also, I turned the big TWENTY-FIVE this past weekend! As we’re nearing the holiday season, I am so full of gratitude for this podcast, for the relationships I’ve developed over the last year, and for simply celebrating 25 years of life.

So, here are a few life lessons that I have learned over the years and what I’m currently sitting with today.

I’m probably going to step on a few toes here, but there are a lot of things that nobody tells you about Spirituality. Embracing your Soul’s Journey is a beautiful process. Embracing where God is leading us and growing into Spiritual Maturation is absolutely beautiful. But, it doesn’t always feel beautiful. It doesn’t always feel good in the moment.

I’m not sure where the idea came from, but Spirituality isn’t about ignoring pain and trauma. In fact, I’d say a form of True Spirituality is about embracing the pain and trauma. Spirituality is about finding healing from past experiences and letting go of the things that no longer serve us.

But in order to truly find Spiritual Liberation and Divine Freedom, we must first acknowledge the hard parts. We must sit with the things that don’t ring true for us because in doing so, we then find the things that do.

Do you love your past self?

Do you offer grace to who you used to be?

These may sound like odd questions if you’ve never thought about all the different people you’ve been in your lifetime. Odds are, every single one of us has deconstructed our beliefs at some point in our lives. This can be in the form of politics, religion, or general beliefs and perspectives that no longer speak truth to you.

Regardless of what ideas you’ve let go of or new ideas you’re currently sitting with, we are all different people than we used to be. You’re different from who you were in High School. You’re different than who you were 5 years ago. And with the year that we’ve had, I’ll bet you’re a different person now than who you were stepping into 2020.

So what would it look like if we extended grace to our past selves? What would it look like if we healed who we once were so that we could hold space for who others are now?
