St Mary's School Grade 12 pupil Ziyanda has earned herself a chance to represent the country and compete on an international stage U19 World Rowing Championships in St Catharine's, Canada, from 18-25 August 2024,
Ziyanda’s rowing journey began 5 years ago, and she had no idea the sport would become a large part of her life. In these subsequent years, she has been an integral part of the St Mary's Rowing Club. Ziyanda says “it’s been an honour and a privilege to have been part of a fantastic group of fun-loving, driven, supportive and dedicated rowers at St Mary's.”
In her years in the sport, she was selected for the 2022 South African Schools Rowing Union U16 Development Tour to the UK. 2023 she earned a spot on the Gauteng Provincial Squad. Has also represented South Africa at the 2023 African Beach Games in Tunisia, in the Beach Sprints event the team obtained a Silver medal in the Women's Double.
