  • Episode 30 - We Had a Moment! Plus Lebron, NHL Problems, NFL Draft and Offending Everyone!
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

Tonight, the Honchos celebrated their 30th showgram with another star-studded extravaganza, minus the actual stars. After some birthday self-congratulations the Honchos kicked off the showgram with robot pizza delivery and the return of an old friend from the 1980s.

The Honchos opened the bucket o’ sports with a couple of NHL storylines involving the start of the 2021-22 hockey season and how the NHL will maneuver around the Canadian travel restrictions as the league goes deeper into the playoffs. After a look at the latest social media firestorm involving LeBron James, the conversation turned to the diamond. Topics included Madison Bumgarner’s “no-hitter,” Shohei Ohtani’s underrated greatness, the MLB extra-innings rule, and the new extra-inning rule in the Pioneer League.

The NFL Recap started with the obligatory Deshaun Watson update before turning their attention to Rob’s Hannukah (sort of), the NFL Draft. This was followed by an update on the Raiders unfortunate George Floyd tweet and the sad story of Chicago Bear legend Steve McMichael.

In the last segment, the Honchos commented on ESPN standing pat with their Monday Night Football booth this coming season before wrapping the show as they always do with the Dope of the Week. This week’s winner? Jorge Masvidal of the UFC.

  • Episode 29 - Take Your Super League and Shove it! Plus Name the Football Team, NY Baseball, NHL Ads and Prince.
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

This week's showgram was fabulous as always and included a first for the Honchos - a guest! That is right, a guest. Another voice added to the madness for the soccer segment. Friend of the show, and noted soccer head, Coach Bryan Lanham helped breakdown the emergence, and then disappearance, of the proposed European "Super League'' in soccer, which was one of the biggest stories in sports for about 24 hours.

Tonight was the 5th anniversary of the death of Prince so there was a tribute to Prince before moving on to the break-up of A-Rod and J-Lo and Rob's fascination with "superfetation." After a quick discussion of Zack Snyder movies it was time to open the sack of sports.

In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment featured the Honchos on the following: ads on NHL jerseys, Patrick Marleau's historic night, an examination of what is wrong with the Mets off the field and the Yankees on the field, and a quick look at the start of what will surely be contentious CBA talks between the MLB and the MLBPA.

The NFL Recap featured yet another Deshaun Watson lawsuit update (complete with his new lawsuit theme song), Brett Favre and Mark Davis putting their feet in their mouths, the retirement of Alex Smith, and the potential new names for the Washington Football Team. Spoiler alert! Most of them suck.

After a discussion of Joe Buck being added to the list of celebrity guest hosts on Jeopardy, the Honchos and Lanham dissected the Super League before declaring it dead on arrival.

The show crossed the finish line tonight with the Dope of the Week. Tonight's winner was Jean Segura of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

The sack of sports was ripped open with a lengthy discussion of Hideki Matsuyama's historic Masters win and the many storylines that came from this victory.

The NHL/NBA/MLB segment featured the NHL trade deadline winners, Toronto and Washington, the NHL delaying the playoffs to make up the games Vancouver missed due to Covid, and a spirited debate on replay in the MLB based on a Ken Rosenthal article in The Athletic.

The NFL Recap started with another update on the Deshaun Watson lawsuits before giving way to the retirement of Julian Edelman and why it is more than just a football story. The segment ended with the Bills welcoming 100% attendance this coming season and the unusual choice to play Sean Payton in an upcoming Netflix movie.

After a charming story of how Minnesota local sports anchor Sam Ali got around ESPN's restrictions on using highlights of the Frozen Four, the Honchos wrapped tonight's showgram with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner? Aaron Wilson. formerly of The Houston Chronicle.

  • Episode 27 - Baylor Takes it Home, Real Baseball Games and Hockey is Heating Up!
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

It is April and the Honchos sprung into action tonight with another shower of sports talk goodness. Okay. No more Spring references. The show opened with some good news about a friend of the show and what happens when people who own castles run afoul of the local authorities.

The bucket of sports was opened with a review of Baylor's NCAA tournament finals victory over Gonzaga and discovered that Baylor is no Finland. The Honchos then examined the notion of how paying NCAA athletes impacts Title IX and non-revenue sports.

The NHL/NBA/MLB segment opened with some NHL trade talk (complete with breaking trade news), the Vancouver Canucks battle with Covid-19, and a great story about New York Rangers coach Mike Keenan from former player Tony Amonte. The segment ended with a spirited look at the MLB's decision to move the All-Star game from Atlanta to Coors Field in Colorado.

The NFL Recap segment was again dominated by QBs - Sam Darnold being traded, the continuing saga of Deshaun Watson and the increasing number of sexual assault allegations against him, and Aaron Rodgers' rather sleepy turn as guest host of Jeopardy.

The Honchos then turned their attention to the LA County Sheriff's Department finally revealing the cause of the February crash involving Tiger Woods as well as why soccer is not taking hold in America like in other countries before ending the show as they always do with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner was former NBA great Paul Pierce.

Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

The Honchos ended the month of March with a jam-packed showgram tonight. The Honchos opened the show by comparing MRI stories, recapping the tale of the Ever Given being stuck in the Suez Canal, and telling the tale of another Burger King PR nightmare.

The seal was broken on sports with a recap of the NCAA men's tournament and a look at the Final Four, a follow-up on last week's story of the discrepancy in treatment between the men's and women's tournaments. and a discussion of comments made by Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey after her team was eliminated from the tournament.

The Honchos made their playoff predictions, discussed the Francisco Lindor contract talks with the Mets, and tried to determine who is truly punished if the All-Star game is moved out of Atlanta as a form of political protest.

There was a brief NFL Recap focused on the NFL moving to 17 games. the plan for full attendance at NFL stadiums this season, and, of course, an update on the ever-evolving Deshaun Watson lawsuit story.

After a spirited discussion about the removal of WWE and SpongeBob Squarepants content deemed inappropriate and insensitive, the Honchos ended the showgram with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner? Chris Grier, GM of the Miami Dolphins.

It was a very special Sports Honchos tonight as the Honchos celebrated their silver anniversary - 25 big shows! The Honchos started the party talking about Krispy Kreme's Covid-19 vaccine promotion and how vasectomies and the NCAA tournament are related. They even came up with a bold new marketing idea!

The Honchos unzipped the pouch of sports by recapping their NCAA tourney picks. Spoiler alert - they did not do well. The NCAA talk included some Pat Forde ridiculousness as well as the disparity in treatment of the men's and women's teams in their respective tournaments.

  • Episode 24 - Happy St. Honchos Day!
Hosted by Robert Kuney and Paul C. Cuthbert.

Your McHonchos were magically delicious tonight as they paid tribute to St. Patrick's Day as only the Sports Honchos can. The opening of the show was filled with Irish music, Irish culture, a look at St. Patrick's Day myths, misconceptions, and odd traditions (snake races!), and the most popular superstition in each state.

The Irish stew of sports started with the Honchos filling out their March Madness brackets. Tear up your other brackets friendos!

In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos discussed the firing of Sabres head coach Ralph Krueger and why the Sabres have fallen on such hard times, Alex Ovechkin's historic night, the Rangers losing their entire coaching staff to Covid, the season-ending injury to Islanders captain Anders Lee, LeBron James becoming a part owner of the Red Sox, and experimental rules changes in the minor leagues that may make their way to the MLB.

The NFL Recap ran down the start of the league year and the free agency moves around the NFL. Who stayed? Who changed teams? The Honchos spun the QB carousel once again and touched on the massive trade offer from the Bears for Russell Wilson that the Seahawks rejected. After a tribute to the retiring Drew Brees, the Honchos examined the lawsuit against Deshaun Watson and the wacky new OT rule proposed by the Baltimore Ravens.

As the Honchos reached the end of tonight's sports rainbow, they paid tribute to the passing of Marvelous Marvin Hagler, updated last week's story about the Arlington (TN) HS girls basketball team, and applauded the social justice position of Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha.

We wrapped up the extravaganza with the Dope of the Week, Todd Jackson, head of security for Madison Square Garden.

  • Episode 23 - Sports Marchness Rolls On
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

Another Wednesday, another heaping helping of radio lasagna tonight from your Sports Honchos. The show kicked off with quite the variety show feel: the death of Lou Otten, inventor of the cassette tape, Rob's Top 40 radio days, Burger King screwing up International Women's Day, and a fleshlight for dogs. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

The Honchos cracked open the bag of sports by following up on two stories from last week - the "Eyes of Texas" at the University of Texas and Greg McDermott, head coach of the Creighton men's basketball team. This was followed by a look at two schools with coaches in trouble - Kansas and Arizona.

After an impromptu tribute to the late Walter Gretzky, father of Wayne, the Honchos celebrated the return of the NHL to ESPN. In the NBA segment the Honchos covered Blake Griffin to the Nets and the remarks of Meyers Leonard of the Miami Heat (with an assist from Julian Edelman). The Honchos then turned their attention to the MLB and their scheduled tribute to Lou Gehrig, and discussed the Texas Rangers having a full stadium for Opening Day.

The NFL recap was QB heavy with the new contracts for Dak Prescott and Ben Roethlisberger and the waiting game with respect to Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, and Sam Darnold.

The Honchos brought the extravaganza to a close with Seconds of Soccer, the strange case of the Arlington (TN) HS girls' basketball team, and, of course, the Dope of the Week. This week's winner? Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Football Team.

It is the first show of March and the Honchos are your sports Ides of March. The show opened with a recap of the legend of Gerard Finneran and the most expensive corn flakes of all time.

The Honchos got serious with a discussion of sensitivity in college sports involving the University of Texas fight song and the comments made by Creighton coach Greg McDermott.

In the baseball segment they went around the horn with a tribute to former O's manager Joe Altobelli, Ian Desmond opting out, and some more Mickey Callaway nonsense.

The NFL recap focused on the Washington Football Team cheerleaders, JJ Watt to Arizona, the passing of Irv Cross, and a ride on the QB carousel. Who stays? Who goes?

The show wrapped as it always does with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner? Steve DiMeglio of the USA Today.

  • Episode 21 - Tiger, Firings and Baseball Oh, My!
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

The Honchos closed out February with another heart-shaped box of sports goodness on the showgram. The love fest started with the 41st anniversary of the U.S. Olympic Hockey team's gold medal win over Finland and a Twitter poll about being a passenger on the flight from Denver to Hawaii that lost an engine over the weekend.

The biggest story of the week was the Tiger Woods car crash and it got the Honchos treatment to start the sports portion of this evening's performance.

After the Woods talk the Honchos laced up the skates and looked at the saga of The Bread Man in New York and the firing of Claude Julian in Montreal. Then the Honchos went around the bases with the retirement of Tim Tebow, the Fernando Tatis, Jr. contract becoming lighter, and the resignation of Kevin Mather from the Mariners.

Tonight's NFL Recap was all about the big news coming out of DC - no new name in 2021 for the WooFTskins, Alex Smith throwing the team under the bus, and the possibility of Jeff Bezos joining the ownership group.

The dance ended tonight as it always does with the Dope of the Week. Tonight's winner was Joe Buck of the NFL on Fox.
