  • Episode 20 - Marching, Trading, Snowing, Freezing, Sporting Fun!
The Sports Honchos. Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

Today pitchers and catchers reported to Spring Training and the Honchos reported to duty right alongside them. The showgram started with a Valentine's Day recap and Rob bitching and moaning about Twitter.

The sports portion began with two social justice stories from the college world involving Bluefield College and Valparaiso University. This was followed by a trip around the rink with a high spirited conversation on the future of Rangers coach David Quinn and the Washington Caps free fall in February.

Next up the Honchos went to the hardwood of the NBA to discuss James Harden's apology to the Houston Rockets, Draymond Green's displeasure with yet another NBA double standard, and what Anthony Davis's injury means for the Lakers and the NBA. The Honchos then took swings at Trevor Bauer, Justin Turner, Andrew Benintendi, and the new minor leagues set up in the MLB. At the end of the baseball segment they even broke the news about the new contract for Padres SS Fernando Tatis, Jr. (Spoiler alert - it was a lot of money!)

The NFL recap was short, but sweet, with a look at the QB carousel this off-season and the Texans release of DE JJ Watt.

Before transitioning to soccer talk, the Honchos had two Olympic-themed stories - the resignation of the President of the Tokyo Olympic Committee and a "Breaking Bad" - style story about former Olympian Scott Miller. The Honchos even squeezed in a look at the Daytona 500!

The circus came to a close as it always does with the Dope of the Week, and the winner tonight was Lorraine Grohs.

  • Episode 19 - The Super Sunday Hangover Show
The Sports Honchos - Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

The Honchos brought it strong tonight with a Super Bowl Halftime Show-type presentation: jam packed with entertainment and longer than a normal show. No extra charge friendos.

The showgram started with a look at some Valentine's Day alternatives to the usual flowers and candy and then the Honchos talked about anger in America through the lens of a snow removal argument that turned fatal. Quite the transition! Before diving headfirst into sports the Honchos were proud to announce their official affiliation with the Dean Blundell network of podcasts.

The sports yak started with the official release of the schedule for this year's NCAA March Madness followed by an examination of two big stories in the NBA - the debate over the All-Star game and the playing of the national anthem before games.

Next the Honchos laced up their skates for some hockey talk. Should the NHL postpone the season? Will the hires of Ron Hextall and Brian Burke work in Pittsburgh?

On the diamond the Honchos tossed around their thoughts on the latest negotiations between the MLB and MLBPA as well as the signing of Trevor Bauer by the Dodgers.

The NFL Recap was a look back at Super Bowl 55 - the game, the coaches, the pregame and halftime entertainment, the ratings, the commercials, and the best call of the night from National Treasure Kevin Harlan.

The show wrapped with a look at the massive layoffs at Bell Media and the DOTW. This week's winner was NFL reporter Michael Donaldson (with an honorable mention to the Washington Post).

  • Episode 18 - Super Sunday Preview Spectacular
The Sports Honchos - Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

Tonight's showgram was a Super Bowl Preview Spectacular (with some other stuff)! The show opened with Rob angering Paulie with a story about pilot performance after a Covid layoff before they really got under each other's skin talking actual sports.

The NHL segment started with Uncle Paulie's Story Time where we learned the sad tale of Tony D'Angelo of the New York Rangers. The Honchos celebrated the ageless Zdeno Chara in DC and the Caps resurgence under Coach Laviolette. They wrapped the ice time with the Covid disruptions in Buffalo, Jersey and Vegas.

After a quick look at yet another new Covid protocol in the NBA, the Honchos took the field for some MLB talk. The Honchos went around the horn with the ongoing negotiations between MLB and the MLBPA, the Nolan Arenado trade, the retirement of Dustin Pedroia, and more heartache for the Mets in the person of Mickey Callaway.

The NFL Roundup was the Super Bowl Preview. The Honchos made their picks and even came up with a secret weapon for the Chiefs - Eli Manning! The off the field preview included whether the Buccaneers can use their cannons at Raymond James Stadium, the attendance at the game, Super Sunday food trends around the country, and the changing tone of Super Bowl ads. Plus, will Rob need his own defibrillator when he watches the game Sunday?

The Honchos wrapped up the extravaganza with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner? Juliana Carlos, Instagram influencer.

  • Episode 17 - Wednesday Night Sports Gumbo
Hosted by Robert Kuney and Paul C. Cuthbert.

Tonight the Honchos served up a steaming bowl of sports gumbo for all our listeners starting with a tribute to Rob's stepfather and a look at the most honest Chinese restaurant in North America.

They started the sports cavalcade on the ice with a look at the Washington Capitals and their Covid penalty and the Patrick Laine-Pierre-Luc Dubois trade, which led to a brief detour into the power struggle between star players and owners in all leagues.

Next the Honchos went to the hardwood of the NBA and talked about the NBA wanting to vaccinate its players as a public service, the "hug police," and the Covid-sniffing dogs in Miami.

The MLB segment started with a tribute to the legend, Hank Aaron, and then the Honchos turned to the 2021 Hall of Fame class, which was no one, Curt Schilling's reaction, and the hypocrisy of the Hall. Baseball talk ended with a hot stove roundup on JT Realmuto and Trevor Bauer.

The NFL Roundup was dominated by the AFC and NFC Championship game recaps. The Honchos also looked at the career of Philip Rivers and asked if he was a Hall of Famer.

After a quick tribute to Larry King, Paul led the "Seconds of Soccer" segment, and then the Honchos wrapped the show with the Dope of the Week. This week's winner was Dan Campbell, the new head coach of the Detroit Lions.

  • Episode 16 - Sports Inauguration Show!
Sports Honchos. Hosted by Robert Kuney and Paul C. Cuthbert.

    Honchos Inauguration showgram!

The Honchos started the yuks with a study on how bearded men are better protected from blows to the head than clean-shaven men. This was followed by a more serious discussion of how Covid is impacting the bubble-free NBA and NHL and how these leagues can start letting in fans again.

After the discussion of the new-look Brooklyn Nets with Harden and Durant plus the return of the enigma that is Kyrie Irving, the Honchos dove into the MLB. They talked free agency, the passing of Don Sutton, rule changes for 2021, how to settle ties in the MLB (spoiler alert: you don't have to settle them), and, of course, their take on Jared Porter's firing from the Mets.

There was a quick NFL Recap in which the Honchos gave their picks for this weekend's AFC and NFC Championship games followed by the DOTW. This week's DOTW is George Hill of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

  • Episode 15 - Post CFP, NFL Playoffs, the NHL Returns and more!
The Sports Honchos - Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

Tonight the Honchos returned to their normal timeslot with their usual shenanigans. The Honchos started the showgram with an apology from Rob for the show starting late and then dove right into the worst idea ever for a children's show courtesy of Denmark.

The sports yak started in earnest with a review of Alabama's CFP Championship over Ohio State. This was followed by a celebration of the opening of the 2021 NHL season as well as a look at the NBC studio analyst and announce team changes for the upcoming season. They discussed Evander Kane's bankruptcy, the grim financial forecast for the 2021 season from Commissioner Bettman, and the games to be played in Lake Tahoe in February.

The Honchos focused their MLB energies on the future of DJ LeMahieu in the Bronx and paid tribute to the late, great Tommy Lasorda (complete with audio clips of Mr. Lasorda). Before turning to the NFL the Honchos briefly examined the James Harden trade from the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets.

The NFL Recap was exclusively about the twin tripleheaders that were Super Wild Card Weekend and looked ahead to this coming weekend's divisional round. Can anyone beat the Chiefs and Packers?

Aaron Rodgers is going to be a guest host on Jeopardy. The Honchos mulled that decision and wondered if Rodgers has what it takes to host America's favorite game show.

The Honchos finished strong with Seconds of Soccer and a special DOTW - two winners for the price of one! Congrats to Pittsburgh Steelers WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool.

The Sports Honchos. Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

The Honchos kicked off 2021 with a special breakfast edition of the show, and they jam-packed it with extra goodness for your midday break. They opened the showgram with a discussion of New Year's resolutions before diving headfirst into the sports.

First off was a look at the CFP semifinals and a brief look at the big game on January 11th. The Honchos dissected the loss by Clemson to Ohio State and what the future holds for the Clemson program after Trevor Lawrence. The NCAA segment wrapped with praise for Heisman winner DeVonta Smith of Alabama and the firing of Texas head coach Tom Herman.

The MLB/NBA/NHL segment was headlined by baseball talk starting with the big trade of Francisco Lindor to the Mets. They did a tribute to Phil Niekro, which then gave way to Bianca Smith being hired by the Red Sox and the Hall of Fame ballot submitted by David Skretta. The segment wrapped with praise for the USA Junior National Hockey Team winning the World Juniors and NHL naming rights for the NHL divisions.

The NFL Roundup was mostly an exhaustive look at the twin tripleheader playoff games this weekend, and then a brief discussion of why the Jaguars and the Jets should be careful if they want to hire Urban Meyer or Ryan Day as their next head coach.

The Honchos took a brief sports detour to look at Ken Jennings and his recent Twitter troubles and then it was time for another edition of Seconds of Soccer.

The Honchos finished off today's short stack of podcast cakes, as they always do, with the Dope of the Week. This week we congratulated Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson.

  • Episode 13 - Goodbye 2020. That's a Wrap!
Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

The Honchos ended 2020 with a holiday-tastic, appetizer-sized showgram to get everyone in the holiday spirit. They opened the show with some big announcements about the Sports Honchos in 2021 and then told a heartwarming story about some unique Christmas lights in Maryland.

The Honchos started the sports talk with a look at the College Football Playoffs and how the process could be changed or perhaps the field expanded. Paul gave Rob the assignment of coming up with a better system by the time they return in 2021. They also touched on Penn State turning down a postseason bowl invite that no one actually gave them.

The NHL/NBA/MLB segment was dominated by NHL talk, specifically the start of the 2021 season with the new division alignments and playoff format for 2021. They discussed the helmet advertising being rolled out this season and then put a wrap on the story of King Henry's untimely retirement.

The NFL Roundup included the weekly look at the dominant teams in the AFC and NFC, the end of the Patriots dynasty in the midst of one of Belichick's better coaching jobs, the Jets being the Jets, and the continuing foolishness of Dwayne Haskins in DC.

Before putting a bow on tonight's show the Honchos tried to end the debate as to whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie (spoiler alert: they failed) and then it was time for another edition of "A Few Seconds of Soccer."

Your friendly neighborhood Honchos ended the yuks as they always do with the Dope of the Week, and this week's winner was Joe Judge, head coach of the New York Football Giants.
