The "Anything But Deer Hunting" series on the Nine Finger Chronicles podcast is an attempt for us to continue our love for the outdoors by learning about other outdoor activities in the hunting and fishing space. On this episode, Dan talks with Tony Peterson about one of his favorite activities outside of deer hunting, upland bird hunting.
Tony talks about why he loves pheasant hunting, why he enjoys training dogs, and why he thinks this would be an excellent opportunity to add to your yearly outdoor activities. Tony also touches on the barriers to entry and even goes in to detail about specific strategies. With a fairly low learning curve and low financial startup cost.

If you talk with 5 different food plotters, you'll likely hear 5 different recommendations for seed blends. Like the truck we drive or the bow we shoot, many are just as passionate about their food plots. It can be extremely difficult to determine what seed blend fits your hunting property and scenario, when 5 different experts may disagree with each other. The reality is, there are so many variables to consider when choosing a food plot that it's rarely ever "wrong".
On this week's episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, we talk with Mike Lindahl from Domain Outdoors. If you visit Domain's website, you'll notice an abnormal amount of different seed blends. Each blend is designed for a slightly different purpose and scenario. Mike shares his knowledge from getting started developing seed blends, choosing plant varieties that are favored throughout the whitetail's range, and then customizing for different property goals and objectives. Mike shares 3 different property scenarios he is working with and how the food plots look slightly different from farm to farm. Each plan is designed to cater towards Mike's hunting goals and the property's hunting strengths and/or weaknesses. One thing Mike emphasizes is that it's perfectly adequate to tinker with a variety of blends on one farm in order to learn and fine tune for future hunting seasons. If you're planning your food plots for 2023 currently, don't finalize before you listen to this episode!

On today's episode of the DIY Sportsman podcast, Garrett sits down with Mike Funderburk out of South Carolina to talk about the Hunt Better platform. This new content platform puts a focus on teaching and preserving woodsmanship skills through livestreams, detailed video hunt breakdowns, and long format video conversations. Mike explains what initiated the idea, what people can expect, and where things are headed. In addition to talking about the Hunt Better platform, Garrett and Mike talk about hunting in the South and how it differs from the Midwest, what types of deer habitat features that seem to be common across the country, technology, challenge hunts, and how experience can often be one of the best guides for learning skills first hand.

We've got another killer episode on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast this week. We're continuing our nameless mini series, highlighting female hunters that we believe should have a voice in this space. This week we're talking to Elizabeth Brownell, who you may know as @rookie_hunting on Instagram and TikTok.
Elizabeth's story has a lot of twists and turns. What started as trying to find a way to be self-sustainable, led her to veganism and gardening, but ultimately ended with her finding a love for the hunting lifestyle and diving in head-first. Her story takes another turn when she found out about public land and began finding success pretty quickly on her own. We enjoyed our conversation with Elizabeth, and while she may consider herself a rookie, her knowledge is abundant.

On this episode of The Nomadic Outdoorsman Dan talks with Ben Mosely about his passion for managing his property and chasing big deer in America’s Dairyland.
Ben started hunting when he was 12, joined the military when at 18 and took a 6 year hiatus from hunting to serve as a rescue swimmer in the Navy. Ben bought his first piece of property after getting back from his first deployment in 2013. He moved back to Wisconsin in 2014 for school but ended up taking a Search and Rescue job in Louisiana where he currently lives. Due to his 14 days on and 14 days off schedule he is able to travel to his property in Wisconsin to hunt and get much needed management work done.

Happy Hump Day O2 Family!!! This week we have an episode that is completely internal! As you all know Paul is our resident turkey fanatic, and this week he had the opportunity to do some work with the ODNR and NWTF for turkey research in Ohio. The episode will cover Paul’s adventure out with a team of researchers that are monitoring flock health across the state of Ohio. Besides petting turkeys, Paul got the opportunity to see how the research is done, and ask a lot of great questions to the scientist. This is a very unique look at how wildlife biology is done in the state of Ohio and an episode you will for sure want to listen too.
Around the state we have some news about rainbow trout stocking, turkey lotteries are open, Maple syrup festivals, and caution for wildfire season.
Have a great week and enjoy the O2 if you get out into Ohio’s great Outdoors!
