On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan talks with Chris Krueger about consistently killing mature whitetails. Chris has been on a roll filling his Missouri bow tag since 2017 and shares his thoughts on why he has been successful of the last 6 years. The guys talk about the importance of being mobile, having proper access routes, learning how to cut the wind while in the stand, and several examples of how failing can lead to success. Chris and Dan discuss how important time spent doing the activity that you want to be good at is. This means if you want to be a better deer hunter, you need to do more deer related activities. Shooting, scouting, hunting, thinking about hunting, you get the point. Excellent episode, enjoy!

On this episode of the DIY Sportsman podcast, Garrett breaks down his archery hunt success out of state. This hunt was during a firearms season as well. That pressure did play a role in strategy, but so did timing in proximity to the peak breeding timeframe of the rut. Garrett describes the thought process and strategy going in, how that changed over the first several hours in the woods, what type of sign he found to trigger setting up in a tree right away, and the play-by-play of the hunt. In addition, some of the details related to the frontal shot were broken down in this episode.

Let's say you've got 4 days on an undisclosed property. It could possibly be anywhere in the country. You can take any 3 hunters with you and the objective is for you to kill a mature buck. Who are you picking? While it's highly unlikely we'd ever find ourselves in this predicament, we thought it'd be fun! Think Fantasy Football Draft, but with deer hunters.
For some of us Alabama folks, it's the rut and we're tired. Sometimes it's fun to get your mind off tactics for a week and just have a fun convo, and that's exactly what this is.

Hey everyone, welcome to episode 149 of the Antler Up Podcast!
On this week's episode I was joined by my good friend Aaron Hepler. If you have listened to the podcast before then I am sure you have caught a previous episode with Aaron and if not, go back and check them out! Some great stuff! Aaron is from PA and had a killer of a year for 2022. The man just GETS IT DONE! Hit up CO for his first elk hunt this past year and tagged out on day 1! Although PA it took him a few days, he still managed to get it done on a great mountain buck. Aaron does a ton of scouting and running trail cameras, writing content for various hunting outlets, so I wanted to have Aaron on to talk about when the season is all said and done…what is on that to-do list and kind of a now what? We break down things like checking your gear to ensure you are all good or need to replace items, getting trail cam data, boots on the ground and a ton more! Thanks again everyone for the support and tuning in! With archery season beginning to wrap up in PA and other states, let us know what kind of episodes you are interested in hearing and if you had success this past year hit us up and come on the show to share your story!
Best of luck out there and Antler Up!

On this episode fo the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan talks with Tristin Crawford about his opinion on New York's long gun season. Tristian explains his opinions about the lack of quality bucks in northern New York that he feels is directly correlated to the length of their rifle deer season. He talks about antler point restrictions, moving the gun season out of the rut, and reducing the number of buck tags allocated to residents. This is an excellent episode that hunters from several states can relate to. What are your thoughts on the state that you live in?
