Being confident in your hunting equipment is key at the moment of truth when a big buck steps out or you are preparing for the upcoming season. Over the course of a single season or several seasons we get to know what products don't make the cut and what gear stays with us every year. On this episode of the Hunting Gear Podcast, Dan chats with Brett Konen about hunting gear that they are confident in. The guys talk about everything from cover scents and ozone, to grunt tubes, broad heads and how they choose their bows. This is a fun episode!
What are some hunting products that you have confident in?

Byron discusses recent rut action with two bucks going down this week in the big woods of Ohio for the team. Cold weather hunting is another topic and some of the gear systems we use to mobile hunt in these brutal conditions. The Orange Army has been in full force across the country! While the arrival of gun deer seasons is a welcomed event for deer hunters, the onset of gun hunting creates a major shift in the habits of local deer herds. The massive influx of hunters and the steady BOOM of firearms have deer more on edge than at any point of the hunting season so far. All this pressure has a significant impact on where deer, especially mature bucks, like to spend their time during daylight. They become much more reclusive, and much more difficult to pin down. So what should you do when you're still holding a tag when the deer seemingly go underground?
In this episode of the How to Hunt Deer podcast, Josh talks with Dan Johnson about finding bucks after the gun seasons have laid the pressure on thick. The guys discuss how deer respond to pressure, likely hotspots for deer concentrations, and how to go about putting boots on the ground to locate the pressured bucks you're after.

This week we're throwing it back to one of our best episodes. Matt Powell is without a doubt one of the most efficient hunters in the south, and manages to kill multiple big mature bucks every single year, without fail. This is an info rich episode, worth listening to again if you heard it the first go around. If you missed it the first time, well this one will be a treat!

Hey everyone, welcome to episode 148 of the Antler Up Podcast!
On this week's episode Dimitri and I were joined by Phil Holcombe of Pennsylvania. Over the years around this time frame Dimitri and I have done an episode or two talking about how our year has gone thus far and how we plan on preparing for rifle season. With this episode Phil shares his insight for how he has hunted the PA rifle season and in all honesty we just talked hunting. From different terrain features, how to avoid or use pressure to your advantage during the gun season here in PA. Phil also recaps a little bit of how his season shaped up and what he did when it came to in season scouting and hunting. Thanks again everyone for the support and tuning in! With archery season beginning to wrap up in PA and other states, let us know what kind of episodes you are interested in hearing and if you had success this past year hit us up and come on the show to share your story!
For this upcoming weekend, I plan on getting back home with my dad for the gun season opening weekend. It has been pretty interesting over the last week or so to see some new bucks come into the picture. We have even gotten some photos of bucks locking up again and hitting scrapes again. As far as my strategy going into this weekend, it will be what it has been from the beginning of this season and that is to enjoy every second out there. Best of luck out there and Antler Up!

On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan talks with Jeremy Dinsmore of the Antler Up Podcast about his struggles so far this season. Jeremy hunts the big woods of Pennsylvania and talks with us about what the deer movement has been like so far this season including a spark of optimism early in the season when his trail cameras were showing daylight movement from some really good bucks. Jeremy shares a quick story about lack of penetration from an arrow that he released on on doe as well as another encounter where a hot doe brought several shooter bucks through his sooting lanes but none of them slowed down even when he tried to get them to stop.
This episode is an excellent example that reminds us all that even when you put yourself in the right position, with the right access routes, downwind of the best terrain features, things can still go wrong, and that can be very frustrating. Enjoy!

This week is a special week to folks from Ohio and the state up North. Each year the football teams come together for an epic battle on the gridiron. We know this isn’t a football show, but when we have the opportunity to bring a couple Buckeye legends on the show to discuss outdoor activities, as well as a game between two undefeated giants, you just do it. This week on the show we talk with Anthony Schlegel and Jeff Heuerman (and Kyle Waters, friend of Jeff’s) to discuss hunting, fishing, and football.
For real information that will help you afield next week, we also have Andrew Buck Michael from WSYX in Columbus. Andrew is a long time Ohioian that spends a lot of time outside and knows the importance of an accurate forecast for those outdoor activities. He gives us a run down of what the gun season should like, as well as the rest of the year. He discusses thermals and a few other topics during the segment.
Paul and Andrew have returned from the first deer camp of the year. One doe in the freezer, and more to come on that trip. As Paul mentions, we made a new “friend”, Terrance, who may or may not be a 300 lb black bear, as well as many other great memories.
Happy Thanksgiving, as we are truly thankful for all of you out there listening to the show!! Good luck in the gun woods, and be safe!! And of course GO BUCKEYES!!!
