If you recall a few weeks ago we had a conversation with Jacob Coons who drew a late season bull tag during the 2021-2022 PA elk hunting season. On this week's episode, we are going into more detail about Pennsylvania Elk Hunting with Bryan Hale of Elk County Outfitters. Bryan is the lead of this operation and has a ton of experience guiding hunters to success in the Keystone State. Not only is he a guide, but he has also been a lucky tag holder, harvesting a cow elk during the 2015 season.
After our introduction, Bryan chats about his evolution into Pennsylvania elk. With recent season and application changes, Bryan provides us his thoughts on how to position your application based on specific goals, such as bull versus cow hunting, zone preferences, and season expectations. In addition to planning, Bryan also shares with us what to expect if you successfully draw a tag. Elk County Outfitters spends a ton of time in the off season scouting and preparing for fall. You will get a glimpse of strategy as well as entertainment by the countless success stories. License sales for Pennsylvania begin June 13th, so get your elk applications ready!

Over the last couple of years, saddle hunting has take the deer hunting industry by storm. What was the tool of choice for a rag-tag bunch of DIY tinkerers has quickly become mainstream with the surge of commercially available tree saddle options. If you’ve put much time into researching good tree stand options, you’ve probably come across tree saddles at some point. So it’s time to ask the question, Should you hop on the saddle hunting bandwagon?
In this episode of the How to Hunt Deer podcast, Josh is joined by Alex Chopp, Kevin Leach, and Jake Matelic, the trio behind Latitude Outdoors. Latitude is making some of the most lightweight and comfortable saddles on the market. The guys share a bit of saddle hunting 101, the benefits of hunting from a saddle, and answer some of the most common objections to giving a saddle a try. On this episode of The nomadic Outdoorsman Dan and his wife Samantha talk to new acquaintances and soon to be hunting buddies Tony and Emily Zastrow about a joint adventure to South Africa next April.
Tony and Emily were born and raised in Wisconsin. Tony has been carrying around a gun (BB gun) from a very early age but has recently branched out from the traditional tree stand sit for whitetails to chasing a variety of big game animals in Montana, Arizona and South Africa. Emily became a hunter through marriage to Tony. She joined Tony on a few hunts and quickly became passionate about it. After bidding on and winning a trip to South Africa at a banquet they decided to capitalize on the opportunity and get married while they were there. Once Tony and Emily had experienced what African hunting had to offer they new that it would be something they would do again and again. Emily started The Traveling Hunter which she hopes to use as a means to help others plan and execute dream hunts.

On this episode of the Hunting Gear Podcast, Dan is joined by Ben Stern, the founder of Tactacam that makes POV cameras and cell cams. Ben talks about how his grandpa motivated him to build the first prototype of the point of view camera. That prototype led to setting up shop in his garage and bringing on a couple other guys to help launch. A little luck mixed with months of hard work, and Tactacam was born. From their first order coming from a major retailer, the company grew like wildfire.
Ben talks about how they continually upgrade their technology to offer the best product to their customers and how the expansion in to cellular trail cameras was a natural next step. Another great episode with a recognizable brand in the hunting industry. Enjoy!

On the Southern Ground Hunting podcast, we try to be advocates of all legal means of hunting. While we may prefer another method, we celebrate all legal and ethical forms of hunting. One huge topic that relates to many hunters in the South is hunting over bait.
We've all heard people say "Mature bucks don't come to corn in the daylight", but our guest Tanner Edenfield would disagree. In this episode, we talk about bait placement and using cameras to locate a big buck. Then how to find the right bait placement for killing him once the season starts.
Tanner shares his insight pressure, stand placement, access and so much more as it relates to hunting baited properties.

Heath sits down with life long friend and bird dog expert Chad Wheeler. Chad is recognized for judging some of the bigger bird dog trials, like the Grand National Grouse Championships, several Regional Championships and most recently the Southern Bird Hunters Association (SBHA) Mega Invitational.
Chad and Heath take a deep dive into selecting breeding stock, selecting pups and evaluating pups from a young age. They talk about some training methods to prevent some disqualifying faults such as gun shyness and aggression.
This is a great episode to find out how bird dog breeders and trainers continue to have higher success rates in litters for solid working dogs and how we can apply that knowledge to our hounds.
