The 602nd Aviation Support Battalion teamed up with the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade to host a Noncommissioned Officer Induction Ceremony. This tradition can be traced back many years of military heritage and is an on going tradition. When Soldiers pass into the ranks of the Noncommissioned Officer they are held to a higher standard and begin to look out not only for themselves but others as well.

The 501st Sustainment Brigade hosted the Martin Luther King Jr. National Birthday Celebration at Camp Carroll. More than 100 Soldiers from the unit marched to honor King. The theme of the event was “Remember, Celebrate, Act,” and consisted of a speech from the pastor of the Multicultural Gospel Service, Pastor Alex P. Vance. The ceremony concluded with food for attendees and a cake cutting.

The 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command hosted the 18th closing ceremony for the Korean American Friendship Circle at the Evergreen Community Club on Camp Walker. KAFC Korean President and guest speaker, Dr. Kim Bum-dae, said the goal of the program is for participants to gain a better understanding of each other through social and intercultural activities. This semester hosted 15 groups made up of 85 students and 62 sponsors.

A member of the 8th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron marshals an F-16 Fighting Falcon during Exercise Beverly Midnight. This scenario tests the Airman’s ability to survive a simulated chemical attack and complete his mission. The maintainer takes special precautions to prevent the pilot from getting contaminated in the simulated chemical environment.

Volunteers from the 4th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade visit with children from Jacob's orphanage near Pyeongtaek. During the visit, the children were presented gifts from the Soldiers and Korean augmentees to the US Army of 4-2 ARB. The orphanage was also presented a thousand dollar check on behalf of the Army Aviation Association of America Morning Calm chapter.

The Korean American Friendship Council hosted a Friendship Night with members of Kunsan Air Base. The event was a chance for the council to show their appreciation for all the contributions the Wolf Pack has made to the local community. Dong-Shin Moon, Kunsan City mayor and Col. John W. Pearse, 8th FW commander, spoke to the crowd about the excellent relationship between the Wolf Pack and Kunsan City and expressed their wishes for the relationship to grow stronger in the New Year.

The 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command hosted the 2013 Lunar New Year Celebration at the Evergreen Community Club on Camp Walker. Key leaders and citizens in Daegu were invited in order to help strengthen the relationship between the US and the Republic of Korea in Area IV. Select spouses attending the event dressed in the Korean traditional outfit, Hanbok. The Lunar New Year is the start of the New Year according to the lunar calendar. It’s known as Solnal and falls on February 10th this year.

USFK service members stationed at Camp Casey were given a unique opportunity to participate in the Presidential Inaguration Ball.

Members of the 8th Civil Engineer Squadron look over instructions to turn on a water purification system during Operational Exercise Beverly Bulldog on Kunsan Air Base. The system needed to be turned on after a simulated water shortage forced the base to find a different source. The system can process more than 650 gallons of safe drinking water per minute.

Members of the 8th Comptroller Squadron conduct an initial post-attack reconnaissance sweep of their building during an exercise on Kunsan Air Base. PAR teams are used after an attack to check for casualties, unexploded ordinances, and contamination from chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive weapons. Once the sweep is accomplished, the Service members can continue to defend the base.
