Our minds are driven firstly to protect us, and when we are constantly reminding of life changing situations of the past, it is because our mind wants to make sure that we remember to watch out for these situations in the future, so we don't get hurt again.
But I can honestly say that there are more postive times in your past than there are negatives, these postive times are sometimes easy to find and sometimes hard, but it is up to you to look for them and work on your mindset so that your mind isn't filled with the negative things
A gardener has to go out into a garden either daily or every couple of days to weed out those weeds, this is what those negative thought are they are just weeds of the mind that need to be pulled out to make room for the beauty that is in store for your life.
Don't let your mind get over grown with negative times of the past and block out the amazing life that you have had.
