Charlie Foote is regarded as one of the best hunters in all of the Northeast. In New Hampshire's Rugged White Mountains, Charlie has taken an astonishing 13 bucks that tipped the scales at over 200 pounds, his biggest being 249 pounds that he took in 2018. At 75 years old, Charlie is still getting deer almost every year, miles back where guys even half his age are unlikely to go. With his decades of experience, it is fair to say Charlie has as good of if not the best understanding of these big mountain bucks as anyone, and his scorecard of bucks taken backs it up. We cover a variety of topics in this episode, from the mindset required to hunt these mountains, to locating bucks over 200 pounds, tracking stories, and key similarities between all the big bucks he's taken. Outside of tracking big bucks, Charlie was one of the first scorers for NHASTC and still does it today, getting to measure many great New Hampshire bucks every year. Furthermore, outside of hunting season Charlie and his wife Nancy are some of the most accomplished hikers in New Hampshire, having conquered all 48 mountains over 4,000 feet in NH more than 25 times each. Please enjoy and soak up some of the great knowledge and wisdom Charlie was kind enough to share with us.
