Star Wars Splash Page

Sskeer's got a past with a certain Wayseeker in the pages of The High Republic #8 that sees the combined might of Myarga and her Hutt enforcers band together with numerous Jedi in a bid to counter the Great Progenitor.

Self doubt, fear of failure and lack of confidence is pervading not just The High Republic #7 but its protagonist, Jedi Keeve Trennis, as she battles demons within and without while encountering those who are lost, including a former Jedi mentioned in Cavan Scott's audiodrama "Dooku: Jedi Lost," not to mention a certain Wayseeker.

In Star Wars #15, Starlight Squadron returns to the fore in a rip-roaring issue filled with aerial and ground fighting between the struggling Rebel Alliance and a menacing, seemingly overconfident Empire.

Star Wars Adventures #7 pops with vibrant storytelling and art thanks to the talents of Sam Maggs, Liana Kanga, Brittany Peer, Johanna Nattalie, Landry Walker and Nick Brokenshire as readers are treated to a Luke and Leia story that shows sides of the twins seldom seen, while the Crimson Corsair makes his return, with a rollicking story that evokes 2000 AD comics, swashbucklers and so much more.

In news, Charles Soule reveals January's "Eye of the Storm" mini-series focused on Marchio Ro, Nick Brokenshire's SDCC-only cover is a sellout and more.

Sly Moore isn't as sly as she's perceived to be in the pages of Marvel's Darth Vader #14, while Farzala and Qort learn that a synonym for Hutt doesn't include the word "trustworthy" in the pages of The High Republic Adventures #6 from IDW.

The breakout star of today's comics is Deva Lompop, a bounty hunter/information broker/socialite whose long history may prove quite informative and interesting (think The High Republich to the New Republic) as readers become more familiar with this character beyond the pages of War of the Bounty Hunters -- Jabba the Hutt #1.

In news, there's plenty of more variant covers for War of the Bounty Hunters, but also con-exclusive goodies, particularly Nick Brokenshire's SDCC exclusive for IDW's The High Republic Adventures #6 that's available starting July 23.

Doctor Aphra and Sana Starros walk into a bar run by Crimson Dawn and, well, things get very weird, very violent, very fast, which is exactly what you'd expect when Aphra shows up at the very place that Boba Fett intends to be as he strives to take back what was stolen from him: Han Solo.

Doctor Aphra #12 and War of the Bounty Hunters #2 (of 5) intersect each other in all the right ways, bringing a cinematic-styled split-screen to Star Wars storytelling.

In news, The Empire, Vol. 1, omnibus is due out in March, while a familar face from Star Tours, Star Wars Rebels and Galaxy's Edge gets the Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary variant cover treatment.

Attack of the Clones Graphic Novel Adaptation from IDW

Star Wars Splash Page is a weekly podcast dedicated solely to contemporary Star Wars comics published by Marvel, Dark Horse and previously IDW, featuring views about the current week's comics, interviews with the writers, artists, colorists, letterers and editors who create them, as well as the latest details on publishing schedules, upcoming series and mini-series, so that you, the listener have more detail and context about the comics that are a vital part of Star Wars canon, lore and legends.

It's a pair of pivotal issues from Marvel while IDW's Luke Skywalker-centric The Weapon of a Jedi concludes with a satisfying ending. In Star Wars Adventures #5, which we reviewed in episode #240, a new pair of creative teams proffers entertaining stories about Anakin and Padme and what passes for mentorship in th Empire, at least if you're Wilhuff Tarkin.

The High Republic #6 launches a new arc and sees the arrival of artist Georges Jeanty and inker Karl Story. It's a pivotal issue, setting the stage for the arc to come and, we dare say, some intriguing tie-ins to events that writer Cavan Scott revealed in his audiodrama "Dooku: Jedi Lost."

Doctor Aphra #11 brings the return of the bounty hunter Durge, but is it the last time we'll see him? Hard to tell with a being that's hard to kill. The issue meshes nicely with the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, yet also sets the stage for events to come within the Aphra series itself.

After a lengthy delay, IDW's Star Wars Adventures #5 is finally out, bringing with a fresh crop of writers (Katie Cook and Casey Gilly), along with artists Cara McGee and Butch Mapa, colorists Britanny Peer and Charlie Kirchoff and letterers Jake M. Wood and Johanna Nattalie.

Combined, both creative teams deliver a pair of separte yet superb stories, with the first focused on Padme and Anakin and the second on Wilhuff Tarkin who, perhaps seeing his younger self, offers career advice to an up and coming officer in the only way he knows how.

In Darth Vader #13, writer Greg Pak, artist Rafelle Ienco, colorist Jason Keith and letter Joe Caramagna provide a tale focused on a newly cowed Sith lord that not only ties into the War of the Bounty Hunters event yet sets the stage for an intriguing power play yet to come.

With the War of the Bounty Hunters in full effect, the view turns toward Chewbacca and C-3PO on Nar Shadda as they strive to find Han Solo while Valance and Dengar, an unlikely pair if ever there was, are in similar pursuit. What follows is a clashing of wills and brute force that may lead to an uneasy partnership in pursuit of a greater goal.
