Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted Aaron Rodgers on a visit last Friday, but without a deal being struck. Christopher Carter thinks this further shows the team's real plan for the future of QB with the team, and how the team isn't willing to go leaps and bounds to pay Rodgers what he really wants to be their starting quarterback in 2025. Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan look like their plan isn't about this year, but about getting through the 2025 season to make their big move in 2026. 

But even with that, Chris thinks this is a year when the Steelers do draft a quarterback, but do so to find a future backup with a later pick. While the 2025 NFL Draft quarterbacks isn't a strong class with future potential starters and franchise players, Chris does see a strong group of future backup quarterbacks in the draft class like Jalen Milroe and Will Howard who could fit the Steelers' needs.
