Welcome to Season 3 of Storied: San Francisco! It's good to be back at it, capturing the spirit of the people still here making this city one hell of a special place. Cassandra is the perfect person to get us started.

In this podcast, Cassandra talks about her early life in New England and what drew here to San Francisco as a teenager. She takes through adventures in a flat at Haight and Fillmore that sounds like something right out of Tales of the City. She started going to shows all over town, but the Mab in North Beach had the strongest attraction for her and her young punk rocker friends.

Today, Cassandra lives in Oakland and is an award-nominated poet with her own podcast and book club. She'll be reading her poetry live tonight at our Season 3 kickoff event—Love Letters to the City.

In this last podcast of Season 2, Chloe Jackman talks about various office and service jobs she had before she was inspired and able to pursue her photography full-time. She also talks about the realities of being a working artist in San Francisco, especially when it comes to renting.

Chloe Jackman grew up all over San Francisco.

In this podcast, she takes us on a journey through several different neighborhoods she lived in and schools she went to. After high school, she lived in Santa Barbara long enough to graduate and realized how good we have it here in the Bay.

Brian Goggin created Defenestration in 1995. The idea originated when Brian was working with an artist in Paris, and it came to life on the corner of Sixth and Howard in San Francisco. In this podcast, Brian shares the story of how the full-building work of art came to be. He also talks about his large-scale work, currently up on Ninth Street between Mission and Market, called Caruso's Dream—several pianos suspended on the side of a building in South of Market. In the podcast, Brian tells a fascinating story of pianos, sinkholes, the 1906 earthquake, and why he named the piece what he named it. If you're within a block or so of Caruso's Dream between 4:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. every day, tune your radio to 90.9 FM to hear Caruso's singing along with the light show emanating from the suspended pianos. Brian Goggin moved to San Francisco from Davis, California, in 1988. His first visits to the city came as a kid when his parents enrolled him in a class at the SFMoMA where he studied animation and sculpture.

In this episode, Brian reflects on his childhood, arriving in San Francisco, why he left and what it was like to return, his early art explorations, and how he began to fuse his interests of literature, painting, and performance into his three-dimensional art.

In this podcast, Dara charts her path from educational work to going back to grad school for non-profit program management. That led her to helping start The Dinner Party, a non-profit with the goal of bringing people who are experiencing loss together over potluck dinners. That served as a segue to Reimagine: End of Life, a festival that kicks off this week with 250+ events all over the city and Bay Area.

Dara also talks about the roots of one of her newest gigs: stand-up comedy. Her upcoming shows, both part of Reimagine, include Good Grief on Oct. 29 at Punchline (after the show, Bitch Talk Podcast will host a live Q&A with some of the featured comedians), and a Halloween show at Cal Academy of Sciences called Ghost Stories. These days, Dara Kosberg is the program director for the non-profit Reimagine: End of Life, a 10-day gathering with more than 250 events all over SF and the Bay Area that explore topics around death, dying, grief, and living life to the fullest. But her journey to San Francisco was no straight line.

In this podcast, Dara talks about her life in Massachusetts and New Orleans before moving here in 2003. It involves ruby slippers and being an extra in a Ben Stiller movie, among other things.

In this episode, Chris talks about "making" photographs with Polaroid cameras. He explains his method of shooting pictures then leaving his photos to marinate, as it were, in various mixtures of bleach, whiskey, and whatever other liquids he can think of.

He goes on to share aspects of his work at SFMoMA, which further satisfies many of his artistic expressions.

Photographer Chris Macias grew up in the Los Angeles area. He came to San Francisco to go to art school, and his school happened to be in the Tenderloin.

In this podcast, Chris talks about arriving in the city and coming to learn San Francisco on the streets of the Tenderloin.
