So welcome to todays episode, Dustglass!

This one started off as a weird little whisper. Just an idea: a motel where people don’t go missing physically... they just get forgotten. It could’ve been a short creepy tale, but it didn’t want that. It wanted to unravel.

And the more I wrote, the more I realized: this isn’t about a monster. This is about grief, guilt, memory, and how we carry the things we wish we could let go. I wanted to explore this theme deeply as I was watching more horror films lately, and explored the themes that really had me and friends on edge. Hence, Dustglass is born.

Dustglass is a story about the parts of us we bury. The rooms we never open. The versions of ourselves we hope no one sees.

That’s what the Bleached Man really is — not a villain, but a symptom. He doesn’t kill. He erases. He makes you forget the moment that broke you. Seems like a gift, right? But once you lose that, you lose the you that was forged through surviving it.

Lyle didn’t escape the motel by defeating a demon. He got out by remembering the truth… and forgiving himself.

That’s the real twist:

Pain doesn’t make us less.

Mara, on the other hand, chose to forget. And yeah, that made her peaceful. But it also made her someone else. And maybe that’s the real horror — not dying, but becoming a version of yourself that doesn’t remember why you matter.

The Dustglass Motel, in the end, isn’t a place. It’s an idea. A trap. A way of running away from who you were. And it’s always out there. Not on the map. But somewhere off the edge of your next bad day.

And it always has vacancy.

The Clockmaker’s Curse is one of the slowest, strangest, and most intimate tales I’ve ever written — a story wrapped in ticking, grief, and mirrors that lie. It’s about how we bargain with the past, how we beg it to open, and how the doors we knock on… are often knocking back.

The inspiration came, as many of mine do, from a simple thought:

What if time wasn’t linear .... and mistakes could be moved...

This story took shape in a place where memory, obsession, and loneliness become indistinguishable — where time stops being a measure, and starts becoming....a mouth.
