I decided in my early teens that I wanted to make a difference in the world and be a positive force. In my early twenties I realized that dream by joining the Army KY National Guard as a combat medic. I was honorably discharged at the end of my contract and attempted to find my feet in the civilian world. Nothing has felt so comfortable or right as software development. I want to continue to help people in a rapidly changing field, and use my talents and experience to bring joy and health to clients, employers, and to my family.

I have always been fascinated with computers and the internet growing up. I discovered a passion for programming while I was recovering from a knee injury sustained during my time in the United States Marine Corp. I found myself drawn into software development more and more as I studied Python and watched MIT OpenCourseWare lectures on computer science. I also spent over a year at Kennesaw State University pursing a computer science degree before realizing that the traditional college route would not give me the practical skills that I felt would be vital to my success.
