After going to Lipscomb University for nursing for two years, I realized that nursing was not my passion, and decided to pursue another career. I like coding because it's an extremely creative field with a variety of applications. I've been writing poetry and creative non-fiction for years, and for the creativity that is used to write, coding takes the same, but in a slightly less structured way, which for a creative, is pretty appealing. With code, I know I can do something creative, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Possessing both creative and analytical skillsets, I have a strong drive to understand how things work. I also have a strong desire to create, and I have always been drawn to fields which allow me to express both sides of myself. Working as a photographer was fulfilling artistically, but I was searching for something more challenging. After a year of self study and coursework at Nashville Software School, I have fallen in love with the creative problem solving presented by software engineering.

I took classes on HTML, CSS, SQL, and MIT App Inventor when I was in college. The more I learned about programming, the more I found myself being drawn towards it because of the abundant possibilities for career growth in the industry, the daily opportunity for practicing my problem solving skills, and the satisfaction that comes from being able to write code and watch it come to life in the form of a working application. Coding is exactly where I need to be.
