For years when I felt the growing desire for a career change, I was encouraged by friends and family to give software development a try. I’ve found that I couldn’t have chosen a better career path to engage my drive, energy, and passion. I enjoy working on group projects and encouraging my team as we collaborate to meet requirements and deliver results. I love seeing an application come alive from the ground up. The sense of accomplishment from the beginning stages of planning to production is what keeps me coming back to my desk each day.

After going to Lipscomb University for nursing for two years, I realized that nursing was not my passion, and decided to pursue another career. I like coding because it's an extremely creative field with a variety of applications. I've been writing poetry and creative non-fiction for years, and for the creativity that is used to write, coding takes the same, but in a slightly less structured way, which for a creative, is pretty appealing. With code, I know I can do something creative, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Possessing both creative and analytical skillsets, I have a strong drive to understand how things work. I also have a strong desire to create, and I have always been drawn to fields which allow me to express both sides of myself. Working as a photographer was fulfilling artistically, but I was searching for something more challenging. After a year of self study and coursework at Nashville Software School, I have fallen in love with the creative problem solving presented by software engineering.

I'm excited to continue utilizing my natural curiosity and user-focused design in the tech industry. I’m enthralled with the wizardry of coding and the prospect of a dynamic, ever-changing career. A lifelong learner with a passion for growth and change, my goals are to challenge myself, continuously learn new things, and have a lot of fun along the way.

The more I learned about programming, the more I found myself being drawn towards it because of the abundant possibilities for career growth in the industry, the daily opportunity for practicing my problem solving skills, and the satisfaction that comes from being able to write code and watch it come to life in the form of a working application. Coding is exactly where I need to be.
