Episode 102 with Jaylon Reeves 

 It's a story about dealing with tremendous loss, inspiration, life as a quarterback, and living for a greater purpose.

Jaylon and his older sister, Kyra dealt with something no child or young person should ever experience.

Back in February, Jaylon and Kyra lost their mom and dad four days a part due to battles with Covid.

Both Kyra and Jaylon have taken paths to deal with this tremendous loss in the most positive way imaginable. Both have experienced the true meaning of team and the support from a team.

Jaylon, the quarterback at Pflugerville High School (outside of Austin, TX). Kyra, a member of the University of Missouri women's soccer team.

Remarkably, the two have coped and are taking one day at a time with  support from every direction they can see: family, friends, peers, communities, and simply people with tremendous generous hearts across Austin, across Texas, and across the country.

Both are human, experiencing the expected down moments and moments of depression and finding peace throughout all of this while living life without their amazing and strong parents, Jason and Chrisla Reeves. 

Jason was a former linebacker for the University of Texas.

Side note, their aunt, Beverly and their grandparents have played an instrumental role throughout this.

Jaylon is experiencing the college football recruiting process. Meanwhile, Kyra continues her career as a student-athlete at Mizzou while pursuing her degree.

Episode 101 with Mike Barnes

The former award winning Austin, TX tv sportscasting icon left the industry after 30 years in the spring of 2019.

He and his wife, Kim launched a consulting business to improve clients' on camera presence for Zoom calls and for presentations.

They also launched a platform called Parenting Aging Parents. This was inspired by Mike's mom's current battle with Alzheimers disease. It's a resourceful service and platform we can all benefit from.

Barnes also began a new journey as a high school football official.

Fitting with his knowledge and experience from three decades of covering/following high school football.

There is a healthy discussion about the current state of Texas Longhorn football.

And, we discussed the current Texas high school football dynasty that is the Westlake Chaparrals.  The Chaps are headed towards a 3-peat as state champions in our friend and friend of the podcast, Todd Dodge's final season as a head coach.

Episode 100: It's a celebration with the OG Man Cave boys, Big Mike & Hardball Hardge.

A celebration for reaching the 100 episode plateau.

This included a tribute from some of the guests from previous episodes. Each of the guests are what truly made this podcast what it is today.

We discussed the Texas football fan base's new hero, assistant coach, Bo Davis. It was Davis who was caught on a UT player's cell phone video rightfully criticizing the defensive players on the bus ride to the airport from Iowa State's stadium after UT's 4th consecutive loss.

We all agreed that this will ultimately have a positive impact not only on the remainder of the season but a positive impact on the development of this program overall.

Kami Irwin is the organizer of the US 13 event on Lake Travis (outside of Austin, TX) on October 2nd.

An event which honored those 13 USA servicemen & service women who lost their lives in Afghanistan.

Irwin, who is a friend of the podcast, continues to receive orders for a cap made for the US 13 event and continues to receive requests to help assist her.
Irwin has hopes of organizing a special Veterans Day tribute involving a local high school football team beginning their playoff run this week.

Episode 99 with the Luceros..

A story about basketball, love, and overcoming a significant health scare.

This love story all began in Nacogdoches, TX when a former basketball star was working his way up the high school basketball coaching ranks.

Rob Lucero is currently the head coach of Texas state high school basketball power, Westlake High School in Austin.

Krystal Lucero was a basketball official while a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. She and Rob were destined to meet.

Krystal's journey included a bout with breast cancer.

She is currently a hard fouling interior designer in Austin, TX.

A new fan of the program spawned a new idea, a special episode which will drop periodically called: IDLE CONVERSATIONS WITH WHEELS with Patrick 'Wheels' Smith

A DFW native who is a lawyer and a graduate of UT and never left Austin. Wheels also married an ATX girl, who is the daughter of the man who made a historic reception in Texas football history. We'll discuss that on another episode.

Episode 98 with David Smoak

A Texas sports broadcasting legend who is one of a handful of  pioneers of sports talk radio in Texas .

Smoak was one of the first to launch a sports message board: smoaky.com in East Texas. He's a Heisman Trophy voter, on the selection committee of the Texas Sports HOF & the Texas High School Football ballot committee.

Smoak's broadcasting roots including the Dallas Cowboys & Dallas Cowboys Training Camp, The Masters, and Texas high school football. 

For the past decade he's established quite a presence in Central Texas in Waco as a host of SicEm365 tv on YouTube.

He follows and covers Baylor University regularly and the Big 12 Conference.

Smoaky delivered hot takes on Texas and OU to the SEC and Big 12 Conference expansion. 

He admitted he's a fan of Steve Sarkisian, the 1st year Texas Longhorn head football coach. 

In segment two, Smoak and Clynch discuss the Longhorns possibility of winning out to reach the Big 12 Championship game and what needs to happen with Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, & Kansas State remaining on the schedule. 

The Stephen F. Austin State University graduate ended the episode discussion Mike Leach's "candy corn" Halloween candy rant and decreasing division in our country.

Episode 97 with Devin Studstill

Amazing how we cross paths with people in the most random places what seems like daily.

I met Devin Studstill with a mutual friend whom Studstill is learning about a career from in Austin, TX while at a local restaurant we were all meeting for a late lunch.

A native of Riviera Beach, Florida, Studstill was a highly recruited defensive back who signed with Notre Dame. Then Texas head football coach, Charlie Strong recruited Studstill to Texas. 

Oddly enough, Studstill faced Texas in Austin in 2016 at a Fighting Irish defensive back. The game that Tyrone Swoopes led Texas to the OT win. Two seasons later, Devin transferred to South Florida to play for Charlie Strong for two seasons.

His life path directed Studstill back to Austin to pursue a career after football. He has a brilliant plan, loaded with business ideas, and an entrepreneurial mind.

Studstill was impressed by Austin way back on his recruiting visit and knows he's in a good place to pursue and launch his business plans.

In segment two, we have a conversation about Longhorn football and what he sees as a former player regarding UT's ineptitude in finishing games. But, Studstill made two valid points. Texas and its fans need to have patience in allowing coaches build a program and that Sark knows what he's doing. 

We close out the episode discussing the Dallas Cowboys and Studstill ended the show with some positive vibes in the "Tell Me Something Good" segment.

The former Longhorn all-american defensive back, who played for Mack Brown in the early 2000s, has carved out and created his own brand as a talent for  104.9 The Horn- Local Austin Sports

Babers consistently delivers true research in the form of statistics and trends regarding the Longhorns football teams and he is a well respected talent in the industry.

Babers delivered again, the numbers inside the numbers from his analysis of the current Texas football team. These facts aren't just Rod's takes, these are legitimate facts backed up by Babers' homework. You can hear it all in segment two.

During segment one, you will learn more about Babers' path in life and how he reached his current career.

He recently exchanged nuptials with his long time girlfriend at age 40. His tribute to his wife is equally impressive and heart felt.

Bonus Episode: Sunday Texas Longhorn Football recap with Stevie Lee.

There's a mixed bag of emotions after the loss to #12 Oklahoma State. Emotions which include frustration, disappointment, and some understand the process by 1st year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff.

Former Texas Longhorn defensive lineman, Stevie Lee (200-2004) offered his opinions, evaluation  from his trained naked eye, and advice for the fans.

Keep in mind, Lee is a "positive person".  haha
