Special episode with Rouse Raiders Football head football coach, Joshua Mann

The biannual University Interscholastic League (governing body of Texas high school athletics and extracurricular competitions) district realignments were released Thursday morning.

These are determined by enrollment numbers submitted by each high school in Texas. The UIL has the unenviable task of mapping out districts with similar enrollment while attempting to prevent long distances for district opponents.

Mann, who has been the head football coach and athletics director at Rouse since 2008, will experience a new district with new destinations.

The Raiders will compete in district 11-5A, division2, in football only. A district comprised of:  Belton, Elgin, Killeen Chaparral (1st varsity season), Pflugerville, Pflugerville Connally, and Waco University.

Episode 112 with Jim Jeffcoat, former Dallas Cowboys defensive end great

In advance of the Dallas Cowboys NFL Wildcard Playoff Game vs San Francisco, it was fitting to get to know a former Cowboy great who knows the depth of the rivalry with the 49ers.

In segment two: Jeffcoat discussed at length about the Cowboys playoff game vs San Francisco.

One moment which is not a fond memory for Cowboys fans involving the 49ers was the 1982 NFC Championship Game at San Francisco. The touchdown pass from Joe Montana to Dwight Clark, The Catch.

Jeffcoat was a defensive end at Arizona State when The Catch occurred. But, he learned all about the The Catch after he drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1983.

He played for the Cowboys until 1994 and finished his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills (1995-1997).

After retirement, Jeffcoat began his coaching career which included these stops: Dallas Cowboys, University of Houston, San Jose State, Colorado, Orlando (AAF) & Dallas (XFL).

Jim is a true example of a devoted family guy and quite honestly the Jeffcoats are a special group. Beginning with his wife, Tammy. And, is a dad to five children: Jaren, twins: Jacqueline & Jackson, Jasmine & Quinton.

Texas Football

A multi-position player who wore #50 kicked a game winner from 50+ yards to beat Nacogdoches High School in the 1992 5A state quarterfinals at old Texas Stadium in Irving.

Dawson recently retired from football after a storied 20-year career in the NFL, he retired as a Cleveland Browns

Fast forward two years, Dawson is a high school football coach. Recently completed a stint at Lipscomb Academy in Tennessee with Trent Dilfer as an assistant coach.

Dawson wanted to return to Austin and recently accepted the head football coach/athletic director position at Hyde Park Schools

His 1st head coaching gig.

Dad to three kids, Dru and Beau and his daughter, Sophiann who he gave a direct shoutout to in the Tell Me Something Good segment at the end of the show.

Episode 110 with Perry Eliano plus a 1st segment appearance by Mike HardballHardge

Perry Eliano, helped create one of the best defenses in college football this season & experienced the College Football Playoff at Cincinnati Bearcats Football

Killeen, Texas was well represented here. Both Eliano and Hardge are proud products of Ellison High School. And, both were big time names in Ellison High School athletics history.

Eliano is a part of a long list of successful football coaches who have ties to SFA Football

After an impressive career as a defensive back at SFA, Eliano began his college football coaching career.

From SFA, to Central  Arkansas, to Sam Houston, back to Central Arkansas, helped launch the program at UTSA, then to Bowling Green,  moved to New Mexico, and the past two seasons at Cincinnati under head coach, Luke Fickell.

Episode 109 with Aaron T Harris

Happy 2022!

The former #HookEm   linebacker great dove deep into life beyond football.

He is currently in surgical device sales and is a proud girl dad.

Harris offered his wisdom on self love, healthy life changes, and the key to a successful marriage.

We discussed living life without a parent and dealing with the grief that comes with that. Aaron lost his mom.

Nuggets of Harris wisdom are spread throughout this episode.

Harris honored his friend, the late, great Texas running back, Cedric Benson.

His stories from those great years of Texas football between 2001-2005, I haven't heard before. He didn't get credit for the sack of Troy Smith at Ohio State which resulted in a safety. It was a "team sack".

The Bo Davis cell phone video on the team bus this past season was discussed at length. Harris said that would've never happened during his era at Texas. The player driven leadership would not have allowed it and if someone would've, that individual would've been dealt with by the team an no longer part of the "family" and team.

Basically, an episode loaded with sage advice, Harris was vulnerable, and candid about life and football.

Episode 108 with Deuce Vaughn, the All-American from Round Rock.

Marquette Foster Vaughn

Kansas State University

The sophomore Kansas State Wildcat running back was named 1st team All-American recently. It's nothing short of amazing what Deuce has accomplished in a short period of time. But, it's not surprising considering the career he had in high school at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock.

Cedar Ridge Raider Football

Vaughn produced 5472 all-purpose yards in high school as well as 50 touchdowns.

In two seasons at K-State, Vaughn has accounted for 2805 all-purpose yards and scored 27 touchdowns.

Crazy numbers.

Not bad for a guy some said may not be tall enough in stature to play at the Power 5 level of major college football.

Deuce is an even better person. Humble, driven, generous, and thrives on relationships with people and his personal goals. He's extremely family oriented, as you will notice during the Tell Me Something Good segment prior to the end of this episode.

Vaughn and the Wildcats head to Houston on Saturday to begin preparation for the Texas Bowl vs LSU on January 4th.
