Hardball Hardge and Clynch interviewed Bob Wager, the winningest football coach in Arlington Martin High School history, in segment one.
Wager was born and raised in the northeast portion of the country and attended Springfield College in Massachusetts, where he was a running back in the wishbone offense.
Wager was inspired by his football coaches throughout his life. After he read the New York Times best seller, Friday Night Lights (focused on Odessa Permian's rich tradition in the late 1980's), it inspired him to become a high school football coach in Texas.
Wager packed up his clothes, a suit, $500 and hopped on his motorcycle en route to Texas to find a football coaching opportunity in Texas.
His first stop was at the Texas High School Coaches Association Clinic, where he found an opportunity to coach. That eventually landed him his 1st high school head coaching gig at Tolar High School, then to Groveton High School, and Kaufman.
His success earned him his ultimate opportunity where's he been for 16 seasons, Martin High School in Arlington. Wager has built the Martin Warriors into a playoff power and is the winningest coach in that program's history.
It's what he's achieved off the field with his players in the community which has meant more to him than the success on the field.
Wager elaborates on that during this segment one interview.
Coach Mo was absent due to training next generation athletes, but Big Mike did make a big appearance in segment two with us to discuss all things Steve Sarkisian.
The 31st head football coach at the University of Texas was formally introduced this week.

The back story, Riley was Todd's quarterback in the 2006 state title game at the Alamodome for Southlake Carroll against Westlake.
Riley led the Dragons to the championship.
Over 14 years later, the Dodges will be on opposite sidelines competing for the title in the highest classification of Texas high school football at AT&T Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
The two were suppose to meet in week 1 at AT&T Cowboys Stadium, but Covid didn't allow that to happen.

The boys minus Coach Mo, who was busy training the next generation of great local athletes, invited Jay Boulware into the Man Cave.
Boulware is a Longhorn for life who was an offensive lineman for Texas, part of the 1991 recruiting class. A heart condition cut his playing career short after two seasons. That's when Boulware began his coaching career as a student assistant and later became a graduate assistant. He helped coach the Texas teams which captured the final Southwest Conference title and the first Big 12 championship in 1996.
Boulware began his career full time and made nine stops along the way before accepting an opportunity from Tom Herman to become a co-head coach, special teams coordinator, and tight ends coach.
Prior to Texas, Boulware was hire from Auburn, where he won a national title, by Bob Stoops at Oklahoma. He earned several Big 12 title rings and led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff twice.
Currently, Boulware is unsure where he will coach next due to the firing of Herman recently. Texas remains a possibility.

The boys minus Coach Mo, who was busy training clients, invited former Texas running back great, Fozzy Whittaker into the Man Cave.
A deep and analytical discussion about Texas football's recent haul of recruits signed on the early signing day on Wednesday.
19 signees which currently ranked 17th in the country as a class, but a quality class of signees.
The criticism exists due to the class not being ranked in the top 10.
Fozzy delivered his feedback on each recruit signed and he did so objectively. Whittaker is now an analyst for the Longhorn Network.
He discussed that opportunity and his future goals since he's retired from the National Football League.
Whittaker's positivity and perspective on life is rooted to his upbringing by his mom. He lost his father at age 3.
Four years ago, Fozzy was caught on camera singing Christmas songs in the Carolina Panthers lockerroom and we asked him to perform a verse or two.

Back-to-back weeks with a full house plus one.
Well, plus one being Mike "Hardball" Hardge aka "Willie D" and "Cleanup Man".
But, the guest of honor was former Texas Longhorn linebacker, Norman Watkins who was once quoted his true freshman season at Texas in 1991 saying, "I'm too damn good to redshirt."
Stormin' Norm discussed his childhood and upbringing and his long journey to becoming a Longhorn and his dark times in life.
He and Clynch met in the 8th grade at Martin Junior High and have been life long friends ever since.
The elephant in the room was Urban Myer and if he is in fact not committing to becoming Tom Herman's successor.
Watkins discussed the sentiment felt towards the Longhorns program currently and if UT is in fact a blue blood program.
Clynch did some research on overall records since 1980 by college football programs, specifically the perceived blue bloods and how many 4+ loss seasons were experienced. This is a brief result of that research:
Ohio State, 11 seasons
Oklahoma, 12 seasons
Alabama, 13 seasons
Miami (Fl), 17 seasons
Texas, 24 seasons
Texas A&M, 29 seasons
Can't argue facts, but is Texas truly a tier 1 blue blood program?
Norm ended the episode in segment two with a rapid fire Q&A session with the guys and ended with an uplifting story about his former coach, John Mackovic.
During the salute of goodbyes, Hardge caused some laughter with, "take a damn nap"!

Jackie Sherrill joined the boys in segment 1 to discuss his great coaching career which included flipping the Texas A&M football program into a powerhouse in the Southwest Conference.
Sherrill was a player for the late great Paul "Bear" Bryant at Alabama. He began his coaching career at Washington State, then to the University of Pittsburgh where he succeeded the late great Johnny Majors. Sherrill, who is an Oklahoma native, lost his first two games against arch rival, Texas then won 5 straight vs the Longhorns before leaving Texas A&M. During that streak Sherrill's Aggies won 3 straight SWC titles and won two Cotton Bowls vs Auburn (Bo Jackson) and against Tim Brown and Notre Dame.
Sherrill offered his takes on what is holding the Texas Longhorns football program. He is a friend of Mack Brown.
At the end of segment one, Sherrill's Man Cave story involved the story about how he started the 12th Man Kickoff Team at Texas A&M, which was comprised of all student walk-ons.
During the final and second segment, the boys and Mike "Hardball" Hardge debated the issues with current Texas football coach, Tom Herman and addressed all of the rumors involving Urban Meyer.

A special episode resulted in episode 44 which included two guest co-hosts, Justin "Bowflex" Bohannon and Jackson Jeffcoat.
It was almost a full house. Coach Mo was unable to step aside from a training class.
And, he missed quite a show and one which provided some insight on a serious issue in America, depression and veterans who suffer from PTSD.
Boahannon knows that all too, he served in the United States Army in the Middle East and experienced an episode of PTSD after he returned to the States.
Bohannon created a non-profit organization called, Make a Vet Sweat. A program which helps provide workout classes and gym memberships to veterans who suffer from PTSD. It's proven that a regular workout routine has a similar effect as an anti-depressant and other medications.
Bohannon is also quite the character, his Man Cave story involved Exlax, thinking it was Halloween candy.
Jackson Jeffcoat is a former beloved Longhorn defensive end from the Mack Brown era. The son of former Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboy, Jim Jeffcoat recently captured a championship, the Grey Cup in the Canadian Football League.
Jeffcoat gave his valued and intellectual insight and feedback on the current criticism of the UT football program. But, Jeffcoat said he can see the current Horns winning out including the Big 12 Championship.
