Strange things are happening all around the world in specific places and Tomcat & Juan are traveling around the globe to talk about them! A vile vortex is any of twelve purported particular geographic areas, arranged in a pattern around the Earth. The term was coined in the 20th century by Ivan T. Sanderson, who cataloged them as the sites of unexplained disappearances and other mysterious phenomena.

Uruguayan Air Force flight 571, popularly known as Miracle of the Andes, was an aircraft chartered by an Uruguayan amateur rugby team that crashed in the Andes Mountains of Argentina and the wreckage was not found for over two months. Of the 45 people aboard the plane, only 16 survived the ordeal. When the team crashed in the Andes on October 13, 1972, cannibalism helped some survive two months in harsh conditions!

According to some estimates, Mount Everest is home to over 250 bodies and is sometimes referred to as the world's largest open-air graveyard. While most Mount Everest deaths occur due to avalanches, falls, and exposure, an area known as the "Death Zone" is especially treacherous and is a nearly impossible area to retrieve bodies from.
The Death Zone is commonly known as the area above 26,000 feet. When the human body enters this altitude, it slowly starts to shut down. Climbers must race against the clock to reach Everest's peak and descend back out of the Death Zone before their bodies fail them. Due to unbearable weather conditions, many of Everest's victims cannot be retrieved and are left exactly where they died. Tomcat is back with Juan to talk about some famous stories of those left behind to die on the cold mountain side.
