Life is a tug-o-war between human reasoning and the reasoning of God or perhaps the reasoning of "something else". For those that follow Jesus they are constantly navigating when does their reasoning begin or end and when are you acting in faith or no faith. Pastor Eric invites us to look into the scriptures and examine a few key moments between Peter and Jesus. You see the human part of Peter and then we see how Jesus introduces him to a dimension which can come only from a p[ace of trust and faith. Welcome to 2023 as Pastor Eric kicks off the year with a talk around the word "expanse". In the beginning, as God hovered over the darkness and void, he began to create everything in existence. He creates man and woman and places them within the expanse of creation and tells them "to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth". The last few years we have been conditioned to run everything through the filter of fear. This has caused many to stall and/or retreat in different areas of our life. We are reminded that we are to be adventurous, curious, exploratory and to "fill the earth". God desires to see the expanse filled with beauty, redemption, and hope.

You can tell the health of a human soul by its ability to hope. You can tell the strength of a human soul by it’s ability to hope in the middle of darkness. One of the great challenges of being human is to remain hopeful. What do you do when you have lost hope or even lost the ability to hope? How do we get on in this life and hold onto hope? As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Pastor Eric takes a look at how Jesus came into this world was so under-the-radar and why this was necessary and important. Is God moving towards you? Is he moving away from you? Or is he static? Our own human experience tells each of us a different answer depending on our own experience with life and faith. Pastor Eric reminds us as the Christmas season is in full swing it is also an incredible reminder about the greatest interruption in the human story: Jesus came. We can add up all the sin, brokenness and despair for all of humanity and in spite of that, Jesus still came. Being human is a never ending experience of the spectrum of resonance and dissonance. Our days are filled with moments and experiences where we feel a deep resonance and other times a dissonance. Whether it be the song we are listening to, the person we are chatting with, the place where we work or the kids we are trying to raise. We respond differently to what resonates with us and what doesn't. When we experience dissonance we usually try to control, manipulate or get rid of whatever it is that is causing it. Pastor Eric shares the dissonance in our lives has the potential to create a resilience where your inner world is stronger than your external world. Jesus lived in a world where dissonance was happening all around him, yet he was never overcome by it. In fact, it actually strengthened him and he ushered in another dimension called the "Kingdom".
