On Fathers day, Pastor Eric shared a message titled “Fathers and Men”. He asked two questions to all the men and fathers.

The first question was: Who is building your foundation? Jon Tyson said “Secularism disciples a man to learn to live without God”. As men and fathers, one of the most important decisions we can make is to be intentional about who we are allowing to shape and form us. We looked at the life of Daniel, who refused to be shaped by the culture he lived in and he continually turned his attention to God.

The second question was: Is your inner world designed for greatness? Eric encouraged all of us to become men of strong character. He talked through the 3 stages of developing character, where an attribute moves from an idea to becoming who you are. We have this incredible opportunity to become men who take ownership of our inner world so greatness can happen.

In part 3 of God on mute, we flipped the script. Instead of talking about when God is silent we talked about when God is loud. In the journey of our human experience and for those who have chosen to follow God, we talked about how we are designed to hear and sense God. Our experiences throughout our life essentially shape and form our perspectives and how we view the world. How we see the world also affects how and what decisions we make. As we journey through life, it is essential to allow the good news of Jesus to shape our perspectives and thinking continually. So the decisions we make are not made from fear, pain, rejection but rather from a place of freedom, redemption, adventure, and endless possibilities.

This week we took time to give a broad update on Studio. We talked about a variety of things that have happened and are going on from Studio Kids, baptisms, baby dedications. So many wonderful things to celebrate of what is taking place in our community. We also chatted for a few minutes around some of the dynamics we are navigating as leaders in regards to our Sunday gatherings and the growth of attendance. One of things that is important to us as well is to give an update on Studio's finances in it's first year as well as how we manage our finances for transparency purposes. We ended the time together talking about what we want to focus on in the next 6 months when it comes to spiritual development and formation.

Have you ever thought about the Early Church and their relationship to the words: potential, purpose, goals, and the like? Today, those words are front and center when it comes to how the majority of us build our lives and even how we position ourselves to serve God. These words in and of themselves are very good words, but in a society that measures value by how big and fast things are, these words can become challenges to us as disciples of Jesus as we attempt to build “big lives” and “big results” to please Him.

In the talk this week, Pastor Tinasha explores what it would look like to take the pressure off of ourselves, to abandon the human need for epic, to lean into the Father’s heart for replicating his culture and his nature in the land. I believe there is freedom for us all in returning to the simple and aligning with the truth that we are already enough, significant, and fully loved as sons and daughters of God, and from this love, we get the privilege to participate in our Father’s greatest dream: reconciliation of all things to Himself.

In this talk, Pastor Eric continues on the topic of free will, the will of God and why does it seem God goes on mute when you are making major decisions in life.

As we move through life, each environment we create or step into shapes and forms us. Each of these spaces often has unwritten limitations or boundaries. You learn where the lines are and where they exist. Whether it be your work, school, home, or your third place. If you choose to exist, whether you want to or not, in these environments you have to in many ways accept these limitations or boundaries in order to be able to function and get along in it. Limitations and boundaries can be really beautiful and play a vital role in the success of relationships, environments, purpose and what it seeks to be.

However, when you start talking about creating a future and when these limitations become self-imposed limitations you won't create a future but instead you will recreate your past. Start making decisions that break off limitations and boundaries that are no longer for you. They no longer need to exist in your life and you want to create a future without todays limitations.

Pastor Candace shared about how endurance is a quality of character that does not allow one to surrender. In Hebrews 12 it reads "let us run with endurance the race that is set before us". In endurance sports there is a phenomenon called "Second Wind", it's where the athlete hit's a wall and they are very tired and/or out of breath and suddenly they find strength to continue to perform at a top level. She encouraged those who are faint of heart and have grown weary to remember we are in for the long haul and there is a second wind.

In this weeks talk we wrestled with the relationship between free will and the will of God. As we look at scripture we read in numerous places about the will of God and we also see God has given humans free will.

What is the will of God? Is it a predetermined plan or is it a blank canvas?

What if you make a decision and it’s really hard, does that mean you made the wrong decision? Does it mean you stepped out of God’s will?

What justifies the will of God, when life is good?

Is there a paintbrush in your hand yet he guides the hand, so you get the illusion you are painting but in the end it’s really Him painting?

In this weeks talk, Pastor Eric shares from John 4. There is a discussion between Jesus and his disciples around eating food. We learn that Jesus introduces a dimension of nourishment that is directly connected to doing the works of the Father. As you read the story surrounding this conversation we recognize it is an invitation to participate in his will on earth. Something for us to think about is as much emphasis as we put on the Sabbath and rest to replenish us, there should be equal emphasis on doing the works of the Kingdom which also replenishes and nourishes us. When you embrace the paradox you'll find yourself being invited into a deeper relationship with God.

The element of water is what God determined to be a part of the journey of moving from dead to alive, from your past to your future, from the old to the new. The Bible calls it baptism. In this talk Pastor Eric talks about Baptism in water and how it is an integral part of following Jesus. Getting baptized in water is an act of faith connected to the death and resurrection of Jesus that allows us to participate in one of the most sacred acts of the Christian Faith.
