    Fantasy Football Week 12 Recap

Hello Heat Seekers, welcome to episode 114 of Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast, I am your host, I am Rob Sullivan. Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast is a proud member of the RotoHeat family of podcasts.

Well this is it, the final week of your fantasy regular season schedule, Week 13, is coming up. Typically all season I have been bringing you some seriously mediocre start sit advice. This episode is a bonus episode, a week 12 recap and a solid dose of Sully’s 2 Cents. The start sit episode will be out later this week, but first we need to wrap up Week 12 the week that would never end.

Week 12 (which feels like it started a month ago), is currently scheduled to conclude with the Baltimore Ravens/ Pittsburgh Steelers today, Wednesday afternoon December 2, 2020. Wednesday afternoon football, a game that was initially the primetime Thanksgiving Day contest. A game that was pushed from Thursday to Sunday, to Monday to Tuesday to, yup you guessed it Wednesday. All because of a Covid-19 outbreak within the Baltimore Ravens organization.

The pandemic has caused us to have the first Wednesday NFL contest since Since 2012, and the second since 1950. The NFL played that 2012 Wednesday game as the regular season opener. The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys were originally scheduled to play it on Thursday, but the game got bumped to Wednesday so that it didn’t conflict with President Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention that year.

The pandemic also caused us to witness a practice squad Wide Receiver impersonate a QB. Kendall Hinton entered Sunday with 2200 Twitter followers, and exited Sunday with 12,000 followers. He also threw 2 interceptions which in all honestly isn’t terrible. Unfortunately those picks doubled his completions. He finished 1/9 for 13 yards with said two picks and 2 carries for 7 yards, in the Broncos 31-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Shame on the NFL for letting this happen. The Broncos screwed up, there is no doubt, but to permit this ESS show of a football game to take place in the same week that you postponed a football game 4 times, is inexcusable. The Broncos requested to have the game pushed back to Sunday, and the NFL would have none of it. One game can move 4-5 times and another can not move once. Interesting.

Kendall Hinton my man, take comfort in this very stat. In Week 9 the New Orleans Saints defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led by arguably the greatest QB ever to play this game Tom Brady, 38-3. Forget that you threw for 13 yards and forget that you are likely back selling sunglasses for a living. You put up the same number of points on the Saints that the GOAT did.

Now there were a large number of fantasy managers that added Hinton and to their rosters and started him. Shame on every single one of you. Not to be a jerk but you got exactly what you deserved here. Start and sits as much as I get them wrong each week is all about the process. I project, I rank and I pick out a few that I feel are the best calls.

There was very little reason to add this player and simply no reason to start him here as there was as ...

Hello Heat Seekers, welcome to episode 113 of Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast, I am your host, I am Rob Sullivan. Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast is a proud member of the RotoHeat family of podcasts.

Welcome to Week 12. With just two weeks remaining in the fantasy football regular season, all fantasy players fall into one of these three categories – Secured spot in the playoffs, Fighting for one of the last remaining spots in the playoffs, or you have been eliminated.

The fantasy managers that fall into the first category should primarily be focused on Weeks 14, 15, 16. Even the fantasy players that fall into the second category should have one eye focused on the fantasy playoffs and the other focused on Weeks 12 and 13. This week is likely you trade deadline if it hasn’t passed already.

Those of you who can no longer make trades, you will have to depend on your current roster or head to the Waiver Wire as a means for assistance. RotoHeat has y’all covered there as well. Brad Menendez and I bring you a weekly Waiver Wire video each Sunday night over on our YouTube channel. Derek Carr – Las Vegas Raiders Sully’s Rank QB8

Carr threw for three touchdowns and had more than 20 fantasy points in last week’s loss to the Chiefs. Facing the Atlanta Falcons this week, I am looking for more of the same from Carr and perhaps a little bit more. The Falcons defense has been brutal against the quarterback position, allowing a league-high 25.9 fantasy points per game.

Four different quarterbacks have scored 29 points or more against Atlanta this season. Derek Carr is a QB that you should feel comfortable with in your starting lineup this week regardless of scoring format.

Tom Brady – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sully’s Rank QB9

Tom Brady has been a frustrating QB to start this season. Most week’s he has disappointed and recently he looks like a 43-year old QB. The reality is Brady’s numbers have been up and down for most of the season, with more down weeks than up. In Week 12 he’s a near must-start in what should be a shootout against the Chiefs.

The Chiefs defense on paper looks good, they have allowed only 17.1 fantasy points per game to QB position. That stat however is somewhat misleading. The QB has put up 20-plus points five different times, including two such performances from Derek Carr. The Bucs defense helps here are well. KC will struggle to run, Mahomes will go to the air and score points,

After missing most of last week while on the COVID-19 list, Roethlisberger threw four touchdowns and scored a season-high 29.32 fantasy points against the Bengals. He’s now scored 25-plus points in two straight games, and this week’s game in Jacksonville is a beauty of a matchup. The Jags defense has allowed a quarterback to score 24-plus points six different times this season. On Sunday Ben makes it 7.

Jameis Winston – New Orleans SaintsSully’s Rank QB12

Dust off those Jameis Winston shares Heat Seekers! Winston is in line to get his first start of the season, as Drew Brees is dealing with multiple injuries. Winston the famous 30/30 club member was the fifth-best quarterback in fantasy last season, Winston is in the starting conversation when the Saints host the Falcons. Their defense has allowed an average of 325 passing yards and the second-most points to quarterbacks (26.3 PPG) while on the road. This game should be a high-scoring affair, with an over/under of 51.  Start Jameis Winston.

    Ryan Tannehill – Tennessee TitansSully’s Rank QB16

As a Ryan Tannehill manager in multiple leagues I can tell you that his numbers have taken a nosedive in recent weeks. He’s failed to hit the 18-point mark in each of his last four games. Week 11 against Baltimore is not what his managers need. Their defense has allowed an average of fewer than 18 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. You need to look for an alternative to Ryan Tannehill this week.

    Philip Rivers – Indianapolis ColtsSully’s Rank QB19

My BFF Philip Rivers has scored 16-plus fantasy points in three of his last four games, including two games with more than 20. Is it possible that I was right all along here?  Not Sully it’s not. The Packers have been tough against opposing QBs allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points. Teams are too busy running all over the Packers is a Kiely reason. Green Bay’s defense has held Matthew Stafford, Tom Brady, and Matt Ryan to fewer than 17 fantasy points in 2020. Sit old man Rivers and if need be, feel free to drop him.

To start the Bears own the Vikings. In addition, their defense has surrendered just 10 touchdown passes, and the fourth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks. Drew Brees his the only QB to have scored more than 16.9 points against them in 2020. Sit Kirk Cousins, and man if the Bears only had an offense.

Well as we enter Week 10, the fantasy season is starting to take shape, and for the majority of us our trade deadlines are rapidly approaching. I have a league that has a deadline this week, some in Week 11 and the majority of my leagues the deadline is Week 12. Once your deadline has come and gone you will be dependent on the waiver wire to bolster your team.

When it comes to trading at the deadline I do my best to accomplish two things,

    1. I go all in. Especially in Redraft formats at this time of the season I could care less about depth, its time to load up in my starting lineups. In Dynasty its similar, however I am not selling my soul there as I want some meat left on the bone for 2021 and beyond. This tactic may be a little more risky in this wacky Covid season, but its the approach I will use nonetheless.

Don’t be afraid to overpay for the player you target, especially if the team you are dealing with is not a playoff team.

    2. Target players with good Fantasy Schedules. When loading up for a playoff run, it makes sense to target players with good fantasy schedules in your playoff weeks. It is also an opportunity to sell players that don’t have the greatest matchups.

Now be smart, don’t go trading away fantasy studs just because they have a bad matchup, they are studs because they are matchup proof. Its just something to consider when planning your attack.

Last week he put up 23.4 fantasy points last week and has now gone over the 20-point mark in all but one of seven games. This week’s matchup in Miami might not look great on paper, but Herbert has put up big numbers regardless of the matchup.

Miami has allowed 20-plus points to four quarterbacks, including Kyler Murray (37.9), Josh Allen (34.5), Cam Newton (25.7), and Russell Wilson (20.9). Justin Herbert has become a set it and forget it QB.

We are entering Week 9 this week and as a result we are at the unofficial midway point of the fantasy season. Clearly this has been a wacky season with the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the massive amount of injuries to key fantasy assets.

I have a Fantasy Football Midway Point Top 12 series currently on our RotoHeat website. I am reviewing the top 12 at each position and giving my 2 cents on where I see them finishing at seasons end. In the process of putting these pieces together I have come across some surprises in these positional rankings.

At the QB position, Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert are two pleasant surprises. On the flip side Lamar Jackson and Ben Roethlisberger have been a disappointment. Burrow has looked great averaging 19.36 fantasy points a game, and Justin Herbert has looked even better with his 25.33 point average. Herbert has played 2 less games than Burrow and is only 2.88 points behind him.

In terms of Lamar Jackson, what can I say he is QB14 with an average of 20.69 points a game. I ranked Jackson as QB2 entering the season, I really wanted to move him to three behind Dak Prescott but I didn’t have the stones to do it. Lamar Jackson season to date has scored 5.18 more fantasy points than Dak, and Dak hasn’t played since the middle of Week 5. Big Ben what can I say I thought he would be better. He is QB22 averaging 17.67 points a game. I ranked Ben at 14 in the preseason and expected much better.

In terms of the running backs, Mike Davis and James Robinson have been a fantasy blessing and Kenyan Drake and rookies not named Clyde Edwards Helaire have been a disappointment. Wide Receiver there is no bigger surprise to me than Robby Anderson. The rookie class has been a pleasant surprise as well. On the disappointing side, Mike Evans at WR19 and Juju Smith Shuster at WR29 have let their managers down.

The Tight Ends, Robert Tonyan came out of nowhere and Rob Gronkowski is the Undertaker coming back from the dead. Honorable mention to Jimmy Graham who thinks this is 2012. Mark Andrews is killing me this season and Tyler Higbee’s productivity this season is why I feared him entering my drafts.

Alright different week same drill, 2 starts and 2 sits at each position and we fire this up with the Quarterbacks.

Tom Brady – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sully’s Rank QB9

Tom Brady has re-emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in fantasy land, and he’s a virtual must-start when the Buccaneers host the Saints in a battle of Hall of Fame quarterbacks. New Orleans has been vulnerable to the position, as a total of six QBs this season have scored at least 19.2 fantasy points against them. That includes three who have scored at least 22 fantasy points. An added motivation for TB12 is the all-time passing touchdown record that Brady and Brees are passing back and forth.

We are nearing the mid way point of the most bizarre NFL season on record.  I vowed last episode to not being up the pandemic and I will stick to what I said last week.  There really is no denying it has had its impact on this season.

Injuries man,  they are the defining story of this season and this fantasy season.  Every year someone utters the phrase, this must be the year with the most injures.  I have said it this season weekly.  I have tired to find out if it indeed is and I have not been able to find those numbers.

What I did come across is from 2012-2019 the most injuries recorded was in 2017, 281 in total.  91 injuries in the preseason and 190 more in the regular season.

The latest version of the 2020 NFL Injury report updated on October 27, 2020 has 472 names on the list.  Now not all 472 will miss time, any player with an injury distinction included players that decided to opt out are on that list.

Its not just the sheer volume of the injuries, it is the star names that have been hurt that makes this year resemble a shit sandwich on moldy bread.

Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffery.  Barkley for the season and CMC hopefully for not much longer.  The first two players selected in 99.99% od 1 QB leagues drafts lost.  We lost Austin Ekeler for an extended period, Same for Michael Thomas.  Recently we lost Kenyon Drake for an undisclosed period and Dak Prescott for the season.  There are many more and I could easily talk about injuries and the impact on fantasy and the team in which the injured are rostered, but we would be here for days.

Dak Prescott stands out above all the rest.  First off, his fantasy mangers lost the #1 overall fantasy scorer at the time of the injury. What makes the loss of Dak infinitely more catastrophic is the impact it has had on the Dallas Cowboys offense.  This was an offense everyone should have wanted a piece of.

Three fantasy relevant WRs in Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and rookie CeeDee Lamb.  Tight ends Bake Jarwin (lost himself for the season), and Dalton Schultz.  Oh, and one of the best RBs in the League in Ezekiel Elliott.  What made Dak so valuable was his ability to make that offense tick.  He kept that team, a truly terrible football team in every game.

Week after week Dak put the team on his back and often led them back from massive deficits.  Along for the ride is the talent names I recently mentioned.  With out Dak this offense and team is lost.

Including week 5, the week that Dak went down, he was averaging 27.93 points per game in 4pt per TD scoring leagues.  Cowboys QBs (Dalton and DiNucci) since then have averaged  9.28 per game.

    Amari Cooper 18.84 PPR points a game week 1-5 WR8Cee Dee Lamb 17.12 PPR points a game week 1-5 WR11Michael Gallup 11.56 PPR points a game week 1-5 WR33

Blake Jarwin/Dalton Schultz 10.74 per game in week 1-5. Schultz TE12

Ezekiel Elliott 22.34 PPR points a game week 1-5 RB3

    In Weeks 6&7

    Cooper 18.20 points per game WR18Lamb 6.75/ game WR63Gallup 2.15/ game WR105Schultz 5.85/game TE24Elliott 9.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have spent the intro to the podcast the past few weeks discussing the impact the Covid-19 has been having on the NFL and the schedule. To be completely honest I have had enough. So although I fully understand that the pandemic isn’t going anywhere, I am making the decision to talk about other items pertaining to Fantasy Football.

The Miami Dolphins are on bye this week, but they are in the news. The team announced that they are making the move to Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback for the remainder of the season. Now I fully expected Tua to see some playing time this season. The main reason I felt this way was due to their schedule and the likelihood that the Dolphins would lose way more than win. I had them at 1-5 at this point, and they are 3-3. Now the movement of their bye week may have played into this.

The Dolphins bye, originally scheduled for Nov. 22 in Week 11, now will come this week when the Dolphins originally were scheduled to face the Los Angeles Chargers. That game against the Chargers has been moved from Week 7 to Week 10 at 1 p.m. Other than that this move makes little to no sense to me. Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing well, and arguably one of the main reasons they have 3 wins. The Dolphins are a game out of the division lead and very much smack dab in the middle of a playoff race in a rebuilding season. Fitz season to date is 138/197 for 1535 yards with 10 TD passes and 7 interceptions. His completion percentage is 70.1% his QBR is 82.5. In his career his highest completion percentage is 66.7% in 2018 as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccanners. His highest QBR, 66.6 a year ago. He is on pace for his best win/lose season since 2015 when he led the Jets to a 10-6 record. By the way, his Offensive Coordinator that season was Chan Gailey, the same man who is the Dolphins OC right now. This is a QB having a career year that suddenly gets handed a clipboard. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the most disrespected QB in the NFL, without question.

So we turn the page to Tua, who I should point out is a QB that I believe will be just fine in this league. My opinion that Fitzpatrick should remain the starter has really nothing to do with Tua. The rookie QB is being set-up to fail here without question. If he succeeds then he is even better than I thought. In terms of fantasy, in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams you can not start Tua, in any format unless you play in some weird Dolphins only league. The rest of the Fish, I think will be fine. Biggest winners IMO, are the TE’s and slot guys, biggest losers are DeVante Parker and Preston Williams. After the Rams, the Fish get the Cardinals, Chargers, Broncos, Jets, and Bengals. The earliest you should consider Tua a viable starter in Week 12 against the Jets.

I feel bad for Fitz. I feel bad for his fantasy managers, and I especially feel bad for Dolphins fans. This is not a smart move by Brian Flores. The saving grace here is Flores named Josh Rosen his QB for the rest of season last year, and that move lasted 2 quarters.

I have been playing Fantasy Football for a long time, and I can say that without a doubt Week 6 in 2020 was the worst week I have ever had. I hope that y’all had Derrick Henry, or Justin Jefferson in your lineups. I managed to play against one or both almost everywhere. It wasnt so much that they guys exploded its just that it combined wit...

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to reek havoc over the schedule makers in the NFL. We lost the Broncos and Patriots last week, and had a Tuesday night special as a result. We also had some serious schedule realignment for the coming weeks.

The league announced last Sunday afternoon a number of scheduling changes stemming from this week’s postponement. Among them is that the Broncos-Patriots game will be moved to Week 6 and played on Sunday.

Seven other games were affected by the postponement. Hang in there with me this is messy and somewhat confusing.

The Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills Week 6 game moves from Thursday, Oct.15 to Monday, Oct. 19 at 5:00 p.m.

The New York Jets at Miami Dolphins game moves from Week 10 to Week 6

The Jets at Los Angeles Chargers game moves from Week 6 to Week 11

The Jacksonville Jaguars at Chargers game moves from Week 8 to Week 7

The Chargers at Broncos game moves from Week 11 to Week 8

The Dolphins at Broncos game moves from Week 6 to Week 11

As a result, six teams will now have different bye weeks.

Denver’s bye week moves from Week 8 to Week 5; New England’s bye week moves from Week 6 to Week 5; Los Angeles’ bye week moves from Week 10 to Week 6; Miami’s bye week moves from Week 11 to Week 7; Jacksonville’s bye week moves from Week 7 to Week 8; and New York’s bye week moves from Week 11 to Week 10.

Personally the Chargers bye week moving into this week hurts me in a lot of leagues, on the positive side it also allows all my Keenan Allen shares to get healthy, and gets Austin Ekeler one week closer to retuning without losing a game on the schedule.

In total, ten games have now been rescheduled to different weeks this season. Week 4’s Pittsburgh Steelers-Tennessee Titans matchup was moved to Week 7 after multiple Titans players and personnel tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Pittsburgh’s game against the Baltimore Ravens was moved from Week 7 to Week 8.

Today we are talking start sit for week six. Week 5 was better, I missed at the QB position as both Matt Ryan and Kirk Cousins were a disappointment. Starting Mike Davis and Todd Gurley was a homerun as they finished 1 & 2 at the position last week. Darrell Henderson continues to be my 2020 kryptonite. WR wasn’t great and TE wasn’t either. By the way, last week I suggested you sit AJ Green, this week you should drop him if you haven’t already.

Ok, Week six. Bonus part of all the schedule fluctuation is we do not have a Thursday night game in Week 6. Ok same drill this week, two starts and two sits at each position, lets get into this.

Hello Heat Seekers, welcome to episode 107 of Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast, I am you host Rob Sullivan. Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast is a proud member of the RotoHeat family of podcasts.

Covid-19 forced the postponement of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans last week and it nearly cost us the Saints/Lions and Patriots/Chiefs games as well. The New Orleans Saints player that tested positive turned out to be a false positive and after several days of negative tests in New England, The Patriots and Chiefs played Monday night.

As we enter into Week 5 the Covid concern is alive and well. The Titans are struggling to get a grasp on the spread. They reportedly failed to follow the NFL protocol inside their facility and once locked out of their facility they didn’t either. As I sit here on Thursday October 8th the news has come out that two more members of the Tennessee organization have tested positive.

The Tennessee Titans’ Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills is now in doubt after a player tested positive for COVID-19 for the second straight day this week, a source told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Players on both teams have told ESPN’s Dianna Russini one of the NFL’s options is to move Sunday’s tilt to Monday or Tuesday in Nashville. In this case, next Thursday night’s game between the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs would be moved to Saturday. Tennessee’s total positives among players and personnel staff stand at 23 since its first case on Sept. 24.

    The protocol the NFL has in place works. I know there is a lot of concern that the season will be suspended or lost entirely. It wont we all need to put this into perspective. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area tweeted this information yesterday;

NFL test results for Sept.27-Oct.3:-37,002 tests administered to a total of 7,981 players and team personnel.-14,254 tests to 2,480 players; 22,748 tests were to 5,501 personnel.-11 confirmed positive tests among players; 15 new confirmed positives among other personnel.

Those numbers equates to .07% of the tests coming back positive.

The numbers of NFL players who have gone on the reserve/COVID-19 list (by team) since Sept. 24:

    Tennessee Titans – 11New England Patriots – 3Kansas City Chiefs – 1Las Vegas Raiders – 1Remaining 28 Teams – 0

Follow the protocol and all will be fine. The NFL should and will hammer the Titans with fines and lost draft picks. They will not let this opportunity to send a power message to the other 31 organizations fall by the wayside.

Today we are talking start sit for week five. I need to start off with a heartfelt apology for week four. In a word it was a complete S show. I typically list my hits and misses from the previous week, but nobody has time for that. Needless to say week 4 sucked and if you followed my suggestions you lost and I am sorry. I take this seriously and as always I own when I am wrong.

Ok, Week five. With the uncertainty in the Titans Bills game I suggest avoiding that game if you can. If you can’t do you best to limit your risk. If you have assets playing on Thursday you might want to start them because at least you know there is going to be a game played. Some points are better than none at all.

Ok same drill this week, two starts and two sits at each position, hopefully with better results this week.

Fantasy Football Week 4 Start and Sit

Hello Heat Seekers, welcome to episode 106 of Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast, I am you host Rob Sullivan. Sully’s 2 Cents Fantasy Football Podcast is a proud member of the RotoHeat family of podcasts.

Well we have been preparing ourselves for Covid-19 to impact the 2020 NFL season and it has, as the Week 4 contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennesee Titans has been postponed to some point later this season.

The most likely scenario will have these two teams face each other in Week 7. Previous to the postponement of this game, the Titans had a Week 7 bye and the Steelers had a bye in Week 8.  The Steelers are currently scheduled to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7 and the Ravens are on bye in Week 8. So move Steelers-Titans to Week 7 and Steelers-Ravens to Week 8.

Now I know that there are a lot of fantasy managers forced to scramble as a result of this, Derrick Henry, Ben Roethlisberger, Juju Smith-Shuster, Jonnu Smith etc. are not available for you.  It sucks I get it.  It’s also just one week.  The only time you really need to worry about one week is when you are trying to get into the playoffs or the week is a playoff matchup itself.

The other bright side here is your Titans and Steelers assets are now available to you in Week 7 and Week 8 when previously they were not.  Week 7 there were 4 teams to be on bye, now its 3.  In week 8 there were 6 teams on bye and now there are 5.

It’s a hell of a lot easier to manage this with only two teams on bye versus 4 or 6.  If you have to take the L in week 4 so be it.  You’ll be ok and the sun will still come up in the east on Monday morning.

Today we are talking start sit for week four. I won’t be telling you to start Alvin Kamara and sit Lynn Bowden Jr., those are no brainer decisions. I will be sharing with you all two to start and two to sit at four skilled positions that I feel are real-life decisions that you may have to make.

As usual I had some hits and misses last week, starting Cam Newton and Big Ben were not good suggestions as they finished as QB28 and QB14.  My sits of Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield were decent calls as Watson was QB17 and Baker was QB22.

Running Back start Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake and sit Todd Gurley and Ronald Jones.  Well henry was RB5, but Drake was RB32.  Gurley was RB18 and Rojo was RB31.  Overall, not great at the RB spot.

My Wide Receivers calls last week were to start Mike Evans and CeeDee Lamb.  Evans was WR34, and Lamb was Wr42, by the way who the hell is Cedrick Wilson Jr.?  My sits Hollywood Brown and Marvin Jones Jr were WR94, and WR59.

TE we had Noah Fant and Jonnu Smith as starts and Chris Herndon and Austin Hooper as sits. Fant TE14, Smith TE9, Herndon TE36 and Hooper TE32.  Not a bad TE week.

I need to get better at this and what the hell let’s start that this week in Week 4.
