Cory Choy of Silver Sound joins us to talk about his sound studio, his collaborations with Leslie, and his love of Sumo Chicken, an eggcellent series we're all working on about, you guessed it, a chicken who loves sumo! Listen to episodes 1 and 2 of Sumo Chicken and help us with future episodes! We hope you'll get involved with story ideas or music.

Cory also announces The Silver Sound Sonic Dash, a contest for people who love audio storytelling. It's a 48-hour style audio storytelling competition featuring $10,000 worth of prizes. More about Sonic Dash here:

Oh my - what a finish. It all came down to day 15. Why does this almost always happen? Here we go talking about photo finishes, pre-bout rituals, slippery dohyos, and crash landings.

CORRECTION We try our best to do thorough research, but sometimes we fail. After this episode aired, we received this correction from John Traill of the International Sumo Federation. "Ishiura's father is definitely not from Mongolia. You have jumbled him up my good mate Gantugs Rentsendorj. He is the main Mongolian connection as coach at Tottori Johoku. He was incredible on the dohyo and super tough for his size. He won the Sumo World Championships in 2012 against a slap happy Bulgarian despite his neck injury."

We pledge to continue to try our best GANBATTE and let you know if we make mistakes HUMBLE BOW.

We'll tell you a little bit about what it's like to go to a powerhouse sumo high school, either Saitama or Tottori High. We'll also tell you a sumo related story based on Sweet Valley High, a YA book series. It includes Onosato, is completely fictional, and oh so reminscent of our youth.

To join our raffle (winners will be picked on Halloween, 2024), go to: https://ko-fi.com/sumokaboom $3 per raffle ticket. THANK YOU. There's no way we could do this without you!
