Ryan Scott, Chief Development Officer with Food Lifeline, and Tiffany Sanders, Corporate Affairs Manager with QFC, join us to discuss their collaboration in support of our community members dealing with food insecurity, particularly during this holiday season. The need is great - 1 in 4 persons in Washington are food insecure. With each of us doing just a little, we can help make this holiday a memorable for all of us. For as little as $10, you can purchase a virtual bag of food when you check out your purchases at QFC.

The Dalai Lama wrote the foreword to the book saying: "Judith Orloff offers practical advice on how to cultivate and enhance empathy, which I believe readers will find of great value. Today, there are eight billion of us human beings, and we all have to live together, so a sense of the oneness of humanity is more necessary than ever before." Pam Fischer is the Senior Director of External Engagement at the Governors Highway Safety Association. She is also a national expert on teen driving; exactly the right voice to join in ahead of National Teen Driver Safety Week, October 20-25. In 2022, there were over 3300 deaths due to distracted driving, and 289,000 injuries. Pam discusses that we need a societal shift similar to what took place with wearing seat belts, and impaired driving. It begins with being good role models for our kids and it begins young. There is a great informative website with many resources to aide in our education.

Teralyn Pilgrim is a zero-food-waste advocate and the author of "No Scrap Left Behind: My Life Without Food Waste." Teralyn offers a litmus test - Would you toss that 'piece of food' into the trashcan while a starving child watched? The answer guides her, and us, to do something more with it, not merely toss it away. Teralyn has been living this mindset since 2017, and she approached it with a one-year plan in mind. It really became a lifestyle, and saving $100/month by not wasting food is good motivation for many of us.
Teralyn can be found on Facebook and Instagram @no.scrap.left.behind
