"I joined Fin in December 2020 as CEO. Fin is a venture-funded startup software company, and it's always an interesting thing to come into an early-stage company as the CEO and non-founder. Before this, I was working as a general manager at a company called Twilio. I was at Twilio for about 10 years from right around the series B financing through the IPO. I had the pleasure and privilege of going through that whole process and then far beyond IPO; Twilio is now a very highly valued company. That was an amazing ride—I sometimes refer to it as “getting my PhD in SaaS.” I learned an amazing amount and the team there was incredible.

Sarah Perry & Chris Leonard, co founders of SnapComms, sharing their story of building a global saas business without VC’s. 

Chris Leonard is co-founder of SnapComms. A rare breed of financier, entrepreneur and people-person, Chris has developed a successful, global business. He has achieved this based on three principles: an unwavering commitment to customer service excellence; a genuine desire to push technology to the limit; and leading product innovation for effective employee communications.  

Sarah Perry, co-founder of SnapComms, led and transitioned the business through a period of growth. During this period SnapComms; doubled headcount, implemented an effective management team, introduced formal planning and meeting rhythms, scaled defined systems and processes, formalised HR processes and systems, built a strong culture, scaled sales and marketing programs and improved customer satisfaction and retention.  Snapcomms has over 2.5 million paid users in 75+ countries. SnapComms was acquired by Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVBG) in August 2020.

John co-founded Magic Memories in 1994 after seeing the opportunity to revolutionize the guest experience and create a new market for capturing and creating memories. In his current role John is focused on developing and servicing key markets to foster continued growth. 

He is a proud New Zealander, born in the deep South, and gained a degree in Marketing from Otago University.  A graduate of the Icehouse programme for owners and managers and a member of the Institute of Directors, he is passionate about evolving the industry interpretation of the importance of guest memories, and how a well-designed experience can layer across an entire attraction improving the guest experience, extending attractions brands, and be a significant revenue earner.  He loves to relax with his family, particularly boating, skiing, mountain biking and traveling.  

Hear from Erik Zydervelt on his founder journey launching and growing Mevo, New Zealand's first electric vehicle and the world's first climate positive car share. Erik is a creative, pragmatic, big picture focused environmental change maker. He’s passionate about savvy business driving environmental, social, and economic regeneration. Specifically, through high impact, scalable urban liveability projects that deliver a better future today. This lead to the founding of Mevo. 

Erik has received multiple awards both locally and internationally in recognition of this work. His background is in international corporate strategy, conservation, and research, which leads to data-driven decision making. Erik is a proud Victoria University of Wellington alum and enjoys exploring both cities and wilderness in his spare time.

With half a dozen exits under his belt, and lots of war stories, today Roger spends his time between Queenstown and Sydney, chairing large tech companies as well as regional tech investment bank North Ridge Partners

Roger started his career by building and selling a technology company, Datacorp, in the 80s. He then worked as an investment banker for 15 years in Asia, the US and UK, ending up as Global Head of Technology for ABN AMRO Bank before founding North Ridge Partners in 2002.

Roger’s portfolio includes chairing Webjet and Iress (both ASX-200 tech companies), chairing Lotto NZ, and backing GEO (the saas company for tradies and field workers) in which he is the major shareholder.

We’ll be chatting about Roger’s experience growing tech companies, lessons and observations learnt along the way, as well as Q & A in the second half.
