For a while now I had been wanting to do an episode about surf etiquette, the present status of our surf lineups and surf hierarchies (the latter is or should be connected to SE).
 
My friend Laura from IG @saltwatersoulutions recently posted a 1 minute video of some nasty snaking burning from a single session involving the same surfers. That video was my trigger to go ahead and do this episode. I knew Carla was going to be in town and I pitched the idea to her about doing an open conversation episode addressing the topics. She agreed with zero hesitation.

Lack of surf etiquette has always existed, however, our surfing lineups have changed dramatically in the last ten years. We will always have the offenders that are just being plain selfish jack-asses, there is not much we can do about them BUT I feel it is our responsibility to a certain extent to educate the masses of new "surfers" who are showing up in our lineups. Surf culture is a very special thing. Its a community, a set of ideas, concepts and traditions which, in my opinion, include SURF ETIQUETTE.
