In Colossians 1-19-23, Paul gives an explanation for Christ's preeminence. The Lord Jesus is fully God and fully man and in Him the fullness dwells. He is fully God and fully man who came to bring reconciliation in both a cosmic and personal sense. The creation groans for the new creation, and sinners have been reconciled through Christ's blood.

This Exodus psalm is part of the Egyptian Hallel -Praise-, which were sung during the Passover. Generations were reminded of God's powerful deliverance of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. Christ himself is the True Israel who goes through an Exodus in order that we might be released from the bondage of sin.

After twenty years pass, Joseph's brothers need grain during the famine and, unbeknownst, to them they seek help from Joseph. Joseph remembers his dreams and tests the brothers to see if they have changed. Joseph accuses them of being spies, throws them in prison, demands their other brother return with them, keeps Simeon, and fills their sacks to make it seem as if they are thieves. The brothers recognize that God is overall things, but Jacob won't let them return to Egypt with Benjamin.

David is confronted with his sin of adultery and murder through the prophet Nathan. After having his sin exposed, David pens this lament psalm. In Psalm 51, David confesses his sin to God knowing that he has committed great iniquity and transgression. But David also confesses his trust in a God who shows lovingkindness and forgives sinners.

Joseph remains in prison for two years before he comes before Pharaoh. Pharaoh has two dreams that perplex him and no one in Egypt can interpret them. The butler remembers Joseph and he is called before Pharaoh to interpret the dream. Joseph shows that God has shown Pharaoh what will happen, namely, seven years of plenty and seven years of famine. Pharaoh appoints Joseph to be over all of Egypt fulfilling God's sovereign plan to Joseph.

David confesses his faith in his LORD as his shepherd and protector. Whether in times of prosperity or times of peril, God leads, guides, and walks with his sheep. God's people don't need to fear the because God is with them.
