As Paul closes the letter, he assures the Ephesians that Tychicus will inform them how he is doing. The letter is full of triumph focusing on the reigning Messiah, but Paul reminds them of his chains. He closes the letter with a benediction and triumphant note about Christ who is immortal.

Although Joseph is sold as a slave, there is the assurance that the LORD is with him. Joseph prospers in Potiphar's house, but draws the eyes of the lady of the house. Joseph's refusal to engage in adultery shows his faith in the LORD, but his chastity leads to false imprisonment. But even in prison, the LORD is with him.

Peter gives the exhortation for Christians to clothe themselves with humility before one another and before God. Anxiety in life is a form of pride as it fails to recognize the providence of God in life. The way Christians are to humbles themselves is to cast their cares upon Him, knowing that He cares for us.

After departing from Israel for their idolatry, the God of Israel demonstrates his supremacy over Dagon, the god of the Philistines. This passage highlights the foolishness of worshipping idols who cannot pick themselves up after they fall.

Stephen continues his defense by pointing out the proper place of the tabernacle. Believers no longer need to come to Jerusalem, but have access to God through the True Temple. Stephen then highlights that the Jews actually rebel against the Law and the Temple. And, after seeing the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand, the Jews stone Stephen to death.

Isaiah prophesies about the return of Israel after exile. But as he does so he indicts the unbelieving Jews for their idolatrous temple worship. They did not view the temple as a representation of God's dwelling, but worshipped it as God. God is not contained by any house made with hands. Worship must also be done in obedience rather than viewing the actual rituals as a means to obtain favor. True worshippers recognize their inadequacy to worship and rely on God rather than sacrifices.

In Acts 7, Stephen gives a defense for the false accusations laid against him. Using the Old Testament as his source, he sets out to show how the people of Israel have had a history of rejecting the leaders God has raised using Moses as the primary example. Just as their forefathers engaged in idolatry by disobeying Moses, so also do the Jews, who have Stephen under trial, reject Jesus.

Slavery was a major part of Greco-Roman life with slaves making a major portion of the population. Paul assumes that believing slaves were present at the church of Ephesus and charges them to obey their earthly masters on account of their heavenly Master. Earthly masters are charged to treat their slaves fairly and properly because their heavenly Master shows no partiality. The modern comparison can be found in the employer employee relationship.
