This week we meet Susan Meiselas, an American documentary photographer who is currently showing her Kurdistan series at the Jeu de Paume museum here in Paris. This exhibition includes very powerful accounts of Kurds persecuted under the Saddam Hussein regime and more broadly speaking, across the region. Meiselas has been following the Kurdish cause since 1991. We then head to Lebanon, where the first parliamentary poll in almost a decade is fast approaching. Ahead of the May 6 vote, the country has been swept up into election fever with televised debates and posters plastered on pretty much every wall available. This time, a record breaking number of women are running as candidates.

We turn our attention to Turkey, where Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues to cement his grip on power since a failed coup attempt in 2016. Over the past two years, some 60,000 people have been arrested - much to the dismay of the international community and rights groups.
