Suspend Disbelief

On this episode I got to Talk to Courtnie Elseneter. Courtnie is from Minneapolis Minnesota where she is taking care of her kids and keeping things afloat. I learned a lot about Paganism and how it is not so different as most other religions and forms of spirituality. Courtnie is a kind soul that has overcome a lot of ups and downs in her life. I appreciate and commend her for opening up to me and for the listeners to hear.

I got to talk with Caitlin Hughes. Caitlin is living in upstate New York with her Husband and co-host of the Domestic Debates Podcast. I really enjoyed talking with her. We discuss many varying topics including our love for where we live, storytelling, and couples stuff we can all relate to. Deep down I believe most of us just want to talk to one another. Not shout, not tell people they’re doing it wrong, not kicking crosses down. Just conversations. I myself have many questions I want to ask thousands of different people and cannot do so if the world is a hyper-polarized, and angry place. Caitlin reassured my faith that the world is not a cold, dead place. I am grateful to have gotten the chance to talk to her.

I got to talk to Liz Carry. Liz is currently living in Michigan as a paralegal. Liz and I discuss criminal defense, the court system nowadays and it’s slow ramp-up to the delays of COVID-19. Liz is also the co-host in the criminal defense podcast Constitutional Defenders. Working in a socially less desired field takes it’s toll on everyone. It is nice to know that there are people in the world that want to do the work that is difficult for a lot of us to wrap our brain’s around. I enjoyed my time talking with her and look forward to listening to her podcast.

Dawn and I discuss mental health in the workplace and the toll it takes on everyone involved. Dawn is living in Philadelphia, working from home with her husband and children. Hearing someone address the wants and needs of others from such a warm and sincere place is a refreshing thing to hear. Check out her Facebook group where she gets other to open up about something they might be hung up on. Could be something you might be dealing with yourself.

Today I talk with Joel Thomas. Joel is living in Dallas Texas, where he is studying mental health in the clinical counselling setting in pursuit of a masters degree. Joel and I discuss how were dealing with 2020, checking in with our own states of mental health, addiction, religion, and all of the things people do to keep their lives in check however that might appear. Not everyone is doing well, which is why both Joel and I are keeping our eyes and ears open for those who need help and want to talk about their experiences. This season’s theme will center around the topic of mental health. In the first episode of this season, I talk with Serenity Gray. Serenity is living in Hoffman Estates Illinois with their spouse. Serenity and their spouse have been wed since December 2011. Serenity has been tolerating mental health issues for a while now and has a lot to share with the world. We discuss this among other topics such as they & their partner’s coming out and transitioning beginning in late April early May of 2019. Serenity and their spouse are also hosts in the podcast NBL (Nothing But Love.)

Today I get to talk to Nik Harter. Nik is currently living in San Francisco, where he is the host of the Out of Trouble Podcast. Nik is an awesome guy who isn’t afraid to open up to others. He’s handling the ups and downs of everyday life among a pandemic just swell.

I talk with Simon Doe on this episode of the podcast. Simon is living in the UK, where he and his partner are living through a second wave of the COVID pandemic. Simon and I touch upon different social and economic observations we are able to make from our ends of the world. We talk about reacquainting with friends, family and loved ones. Simon also hosts a podcast called Everyone’s a Dragon . His show centers around the world of Dungeons and Dragons and has provided a lot of grounded and fun avenues for him, his guests and his audience.

I talk with Anderson Silver. Anderson has spent the past year or so trying to spread philosophy to those looking for some guidance in life. He is the author of two books with a third one on the way, he writes weekly articles on applying ancient wisdom to our daily lives for better mental health, and I host a Podcast series "Stoicism for a Better Life" to help put the knowledge out there for those who seek it. We discuss a lot of topics involving stoicism, meditation, and other mindful practices. I value his time and company, and am grateful to having gotten to speak with him.
