Just some of the fun: A couple of innocuous comments.  Innocuous definition: Producing no injury, not likely to give offense or to arouse strong feelings or hostility.  “To thine own self be true”. I landed on the “people who talk about god are assholes” side of TikTok. Pick your dogma.  Take what you need and leave the rest… Don’t jinx me.  The “Power of Now” is in my book shelf but I’ve never read it.  There was some icky today.  I’m an old dog.  I’m a young 52.  Why is it so important for me to act like I know?“What have I learned from interview #1 to now and what have I changed?”  Be supportive of people in their endeavors. .

“What type of person are you before the fraud?” He’s not super stoked about his answer.  When I start asking about his shift in prison; “when is the change?”  “The before and after?”  “The change in your awareness?”  It takes some pressing, but I am humbled by his answers.  “What do you have to do to stay clean from fraud?”  The bread crumbs to his current happiness…  and more.  Episode 3 and 4 still affect me.

For those of you who don’t know Matthew Cox; he was Number One on the Secret Services most wanted list for stealing $11,500,000 dollars and committing $55,000,000 in mortgage fraud all while on federal probation, all while he was on the run, all while he was committing more fraud.  Matthew Cox was profiled on American Greed, Dateline, etc.  Ultimately Matt was captured and sentenced to 26 years in prison.  In July 2019 he was released from prison after 12.5 years.  While in prison he began collecting and writing the true crime stories that he had the privilege of hearing…  So now Matt writes books, has rediscovered his passion for art, and… He’s smart, articulate, and may just have discovered the secrets to finding peace of mind…

Some of the highlights from my notes on part 3

Switch Back to art school :)…  He’s got it in head that he wants to make money…Up until the point of fraud…   what are you like…  Didn’t have close friends, very selfish, arrogant and completely unaware of it…  I was still a kid.  Look back and seeing his behavior, extremely judgmental, not until he went to prison…  How delusional and detached from reality was I?  Bitch slap moment…   Gov is not going to reduce your time, there is no fixing it.  Up until that point he was still in the complaining mode…  “Did I get to much time…?”  Whoever told me likes not fair did me an extreme dis-justice.  I started thinking to myself it could be worse… His first thoughts when realizes he’s close to getting out…  Is there enough time for him to finish these stories (while in prison).  He does believe in god, it makes him feel good life will go on, the point is.  The things we do will help us on our path.  You don’t know what gods plan is.

What do you do to have to stay clean from fraud?  A slow burn of staying free of the bondage of self… Their were multiple guys, in their 70’s, after 40 years in prison, always happy, helping people out, they have a great attitude…  Thats what I want.  You can feel that negative energy on people and I used to think that thought was stupid…  He tells you how he gets to be of service…  (writing the stories, pay them the money)…  He’s trying!  The breadcrumbs…  Danny says ok you can come on..   the rest is viewer history :).

I discover some new tips to make poor over coffee and relate the experience to following simple instructions to bring joy in your life.  And A Course In Miracles inspires a new simple prayer that is a game changer…  And gives me new perspective to be in the moment.

Feeling the love of life and god and such.  …it is a powerful thing to try to connive that or to share that space.  Monkey mind, then creative flow, then the beautiful distorted reality moments.  Time slips away…  Loving the thoughts…  Went back to the pour over which is so good.  Really enjoying the simple process of making the coffee. Can I follow the simple instructions and make a good simple cup of coffee, and then how do I bend from that, do I put in extra or don’t I?  And what were the TikTok coffee instructions that fully heighten the experience.  ACIM inspires this prayer “God let everyone I meet today be seen with present eyes”.  Let me see them as they are in their present reality and not distorted by my own perceptions/baggage.  Perhaps I just think i’ve been living in the present moment.  I would extrapolate that out to anyone you have contention with.  What thoughts am I willing to play with or venture forward with? Or am I going to have contempt and a close mind.  Why would you not want to play with that thought?  There is freedom on that idea, vs the pain of our own illusions of the past that we project on to them.

My sneaky ego entices me to deviate from some of my most important spiritual practices…  So I get to re-prioritize some of my morning routine to get back on track and the results are awesome!

Remembrances of “the Blues Brothers” movie.  I loved the soundtrack!  The things that are good for me and that help me stay in the moment…  Let’s make no illusions about that.  We are all adults…  Or, i’ll give you this, we need to be at least moving in that direction.  I love A Course In Miracles, Meditating, Prayer of a certain type.   I can barley figure out whats best for myself, let alone what is best for someone else.  And writing at the end of the night.  So good.  And hopefully throughout the day, I’ll have stay in the moment thoughts v the drudgery of the mind.  How fun is it to play with them and try new ideas.  ACIM is integral in that for me.  Out of thinking I was behind etc, I prioritized other things above ACIM…  The regimented aspect of some of my prayers almost become a disservice.  …I detach from the outcomes much more beautifully and I savor and embrace and relish and enjoy the richness of where I am in the process in the moment.  Thats the rad space to be.  In the now, content happy thriving in the moment following the instructions…  You gotta go through what you gotta go through to get to where you need to be.  And that can be beautiful or that can be painful.  Thank you TikTok, you changed my coffee game.  And what sneaks back in…

The adventure of the healthcare system.  New insights into how I’m manipulative.  A little victim mentality.  "I don’t know the system” that’s my excuse.  That system is the enemy vs a friend. “What should I do next?” or “Don’t you tell me what to do next!”. “I’d prefer not to call them business calls”.  I’m flexible with my agenda when I walking, and there are people that have very specific agendas… And sometimes I’m in a forgiving mood…  A complete mirror of how I like to bend the rules when it will serve me.  I got to change health care providers, “you should just re apply”…  I’ll stare somebody down, vs embracing the fact that i’ve got nowhere to be.  Just following the instructions.  Smile and gladly let people have the right of way.

I happened to talk to Glenn Miller the morning I recorded this days episode.  He had been at death's door from the covid and was fired up about service and life.  He spontaneously tells me some inspirational things this morning.  I talk about Glenn Miller being of maximum service and what a good man he is.  Sadly, Glenn Miller would pass away just a couple weeks later…

There actually may be too much to talk about.  Which way do I wanna go?  That's a fun thought.  Prophetic thoughts about Glenn Miller (because I’m 3 weeks behind…).  I happened to talk to him this day as he got out of the hospital after surviving Covid round 1.  I talk about Glenn being of maximum service, finding freedom in his life by being of service, and being such a good guy…   He said to me “survive to serve!”, and spontaneously “live life Mischa!” get after it don’t be scared!  Sadly Glenn Miller passed away a couple weeks later from Covid round 2.  God bless Glenn Miller may he rest in peace.  I’m freer than I’ve ever been.

My emotional state seems to affect how I perceive my interviews in the moment.  I discuss many of those states at the time of recording and at the time of edit for publishing; and how those perceptions fluctuate.

Turns out the chair still squeaks fixing.  If I don’t record something I will loose my edge. I can record and in the moment and think it’s crapy…  But then when I listen back to it later I’m like “hey that wasn’t so bad, it’s ok”.  …You get interviewed and then they ready you your story.  The experiences of re-listening to my interviews at time of editing…  Scotts was a beast…  It was easier up until then.  So I re-listened to it with a fresh set of eyes and it was really fun.  I’m learning my creative process.  Turns out I’m ambidextrous with the track pad.  Further instructions, write down 30 examples and start crossing of words…

Rule number 1 it ain’t worth dying.  Wake up, make my bed, say some prayers, then jump into the mediation. I just know when I do it it is profound for me.  I am not falling asleep as I’m meditating, aka sleeptation.  …well you must need sleep, that changed the game :).  Today it’s like, which dimension is real?  To go from a person who used to go weeks with being frustrated at a person, to now I can cut it off in the moment!  And more tech toys, which leads me to BestBuy…

Some of the highlights from my notes on part 2

The checks and balances of being a narcissist, in prison…  and please help me so I’m not this way for when I’m out of prison.  Funny commentary on breaking that habit.   There are lessons for all of us to learn.  I try to relate my drinking escalation to his fraud escalation.  His father finally visits him in prison.  

Tell me about art school - before he becomes a criminal.  I like painting, I like drawing, I like sculpture.  I wasn’t interested in competing against people who were willing to starve to make their art.  Now he’s compared to artist Jason Skelton artist.  …“he does all the things I don’t have the tolerance for”.  The good news, he’s no longer driving his moms car…  But he’s got to explain to the PO why the paperwork isn’t funny.  Yes he is paying restitution…  Mark Laita and the soft white underbelly…  This is the way I feel, “If you really want to clean your life up you can do it”.  In regards to the homeless on the streets…”I’m a couple of bad moves away from being that way”.  Matt gets real about how on edge it was coming out of the half way house…  Do you look around the room and think you’re the smartest guy in the room? Danny is a good guy; clearly there is a fondness for him.  And we get perspective on how Matt sees some things…  Character building.  Danny is a worker he says…  Like legit!

I was just interviewed, ”Mischa is a stay at home’ish dad with a podcast”.  Turns out that may be my new identity and I love that!  So easy on myself, keep my expectations in check, and keep pressing along.  All these “duh Mischa” “duh Mischa” lightbulb moments going on!

Say what you are gonna say, say it, say what you said.  Stick to that model and you will probably be successful.  Surprisingly I can’t stick to that model very often.   I don’t need to pretend it’s anything else.  I feel like people think that I’m just doing this for the attention. But I do like attention.  Looking at the feed from the eyes of a content creator v a content consumer.  I Service mentality, what are you bringing what are you bringing, service mentality.  Just keep pressing forward one day at a time.
