  • Ash Wednesday

Today we are talking about Ash Wednesday. It is the start of the season of Lent, which is the 40 days before Easter when Jesus rose from the dead. Ashes are the sign of repentance. We can use this season to start cleaning up the things inside of us. We do need a word of caution here...do not make a big show of it. God isn't pleased by our grand public statements of repentance when there is nothing going on inside of us. God is always after the heart not the big show we try and put on.

  • Authentic Relationships: Two Way Street

Authentic relationships need to be seen as a two way street. We need to give and receive in every relationship. This will ensure that we are seeking to understand where people are coming from and who they are before we are trying to download all our info on them. People will stope listening when they notice they are really not apart of the conversation. We can learn a lot from Jesus on this one, as he asked questions of people he was in conversation with. He is God in flesh and knows everything and still asked questions...so what should that teach you?

  • Authentic Relationships: Live in the Moment

We learn from Winnie the Pooh today as we learn to live in each moment we are given. One of the greatest gifts we can give to someone else is being present for them. We get distracted easily by time or our technology, but most often in our own heads. We get caught up thinking about the past or what the future may bring. We need to take away barriers and live in the moment.

  • Authentic Relationships: Treat People with Kindness

Treating people with kindness is a great way to show our authentic selves. It is one of the fruits of the spirit but science also says it is good for us to do. There is a challenge today to try and go out and show some kindness to a stranger, family, friend or coworker. How did you feel? How do you think they felt? Report back and let us know. Let's spread some kindness.

  • Authentic Relationships: Emotional Intelligence

Today as we are talking about authenticity, it is good to know our own emotions and what that might mean as we are responding to people around us. How can we better know our emotions so that we can be our selves with others. As I tell my wife, release the crazy a little bit at a time so we don't scare anyone off. Your emotions will tell you a lot about what you need to know, we just have to ask why.
