When Tristan Jagger learned that one in nine families in B.C. are food insecure, she was determined to do something to help. The fundraising professional tells Tamara how she discovered an elegant solution: an app where volunteers select one-off tasks to transport surplus directly from vendors to nonprofit community partners. Since March 2020, Vancouver Food Runners has redirected over 1 million pounds of surplus food from businesses, the equivalent of 833,333 meals – one click at a time.
