Maya Kowalski's story made headlines around the world when the Netflix series "Take Care of Maya" told her story about suffering from chronic pain and the subsequent death of her mother. Maya and her father claimed in a lawsuit that Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in Florida held her against her will and caused her intentional emotional distress. A jury awarded Maya more than $200 million in damages. But an appeals court has thrown out that award and ordered a new trial.
