Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we begin a week of discussing the five main reasons as to why the church is not making disciples. The first reason is that the church has made it too easy. A Barna study shares that only 1 percent of pastors believe that the church is doing very well in their efforts to disciple new and young believers. Karl, a pastor himself, shares that it can be too easy to want to dumb down discipleship for church members. Yet Jesus promises us exactly the opposite. In Matthew 16:24, Jesus says, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Salvation is a free gift, but discipleship comes at a cost.
