It's a special fourth of July weekend edition of Takeline! Jason will return from his post NBA Finals hiatus next week, but this week’s show is a family affair. C.J. Toledano and Megan Gailey- comedians, new parents and Takeline's favorite couple- venture out across the sports spectrum. First, they speak with Peter Baugh, who covered the Colorado Avalanche’s successful run up to the almost immediately dented Stanley Cup, then check in with Bob Nightengale, national baseball writer for USA Today as the MLB season reaches the halfway point and the All Star Game festivities, set in Dodger Stadium later this month, draw ever closer. 

Jordan Ligons, host of the Spinsters podcast and freelance Basketball journalist, sits in the host's chair while Jason Concepcion takes a well deserved break from the grind now that the NBA season is over, and presides over a of couple of really important topics of conversation.  Friday’s Supreme Court decision was one of those moments in American history that sent echoes through all corners of society, and the sports world is no exception. The overturning of Roe v Wade represents an extremely dark moment in the fight for women’s rights, and Rachel Bachman of the Wall Street Journal joined Jordan to discuss athlete reaction to the decision. Then, as Title IX turns 50, Jordan discussed the realities and limitations of the laws with Rachel Axon of USA Today.

On this week's Takeline, Jamel Johnson, host of the Air Buds podcast, joins Jason Concepcion to ring in the NBA offseason. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics in six games last Friday, and the party was in San Francisco on Monday in celebration of this fourth championship of the Warriors dynasty. Dan Devine of the Ringer returns to discuss the Finals victory, Golden State’s legacy and the outlook for the team’s continued success, and then the episode wraps up with a game of Take Survivor features some familiar faces.

Game six of the NBA Finals in Boston may be the final game of the season. The Golden State Warriors are taking a 3-2 back to the east coast, and need just one more victory to claim the NBA title. The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors split the first two games of the NBA Finals in San Francisco, and will continue their title fight in New England. After squandering a double-digit fourth quarter lead in game one, the Warriors took care of business in game two, but the Celtics return home with home court advantage.
