An AP article argues that the biggest question in the Texas Senate race is whether James Talarico can succeed where many others failed. Previous opponents repeatedly attacked Ken Paxton over ethics and corruption allegations, but he kept winning. Talarico is betting that tying those controversies to voters' day-to-day frustrations will finally make the issue politically decisive in one of America's most important Senate races. 

Heritage Foundation government-relations director Chris Wingate was arrested after Senate security personnel discovered a loaded 9mm pistol magazine in his briefcase while entering the Russell Senate Office Building. A later search reportedly uncovered pills and capsules, including a substance that allegedly tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, leading to a drug-possession charge.
