to listen or not to listen, that is the question - but, unlike poor hamlet, you'll find this question pretty easy to answer.

if you love keeping calm and carrying on, making history by having your secrets exposed on a global scale and misappropriating taxpayer funds to follow your hearts (see also: have booty calls), then by golly do we have the episode for you! come with us on a trip back in time and across the Atlantic, to a magical age where millennials could be used as “marketing strategies” and not just as an insult on TikTok - that's right, this month we tackle Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. we also have our first guest on the pod to talk us through the many, many (many) British-isms featured in this book. you can find more of Brian and his blossoming music career at @officialbigboib. will this queer romance achieve the elusive ‘lit’ rating or fall, like so many before it, directly into the shit pits?

just as Alex feels forever about Henry, we feel forever about our listeners so please subscribe and rate the podcast!

they say the best dancing dragons train for the talon show, but we’ve got our sights set on the kinds of dragons that train for war (of the game variety and the real kind).

this month we’re soaring, flying straight into your eardrums and spitting straight fire on fourth wing by rebecca yarros. join us as we weigh in on the fantasy book everyone is talking about while deliberately avoiding saying the dragon names for fear of mispronouncing them 🩷

two skaters, both alike in dignity, in fair maple hills where we lay our scene. from damaged ice rinks to traumatised Uber drivers, where explicit scenes make minds unclean. from the fatal loins of these two foes, comes Icebreaker by Hannah Grace, wherein nonsense ensues but inspires this very funny podcast episode. listen if you're a fan of hot takes, fuzzy socks or pretending you're an ice princess.

what’s cooler than going back in time to relive some emotional trauma in a cosy cafe hidden in the back alleys of Japan? why, listening to this month’s talk lit, get hit episode of course!

this month we tackle Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and ponder the serious questions in life with a little help from our only reference point, Twilight (and the Santa Claus?)

* this episode was originally released in two parts - a decision that has haunted us ever since. we have decided to put the two parts back together just like Mary-Kate and Ashley putting the cursed necklace back together in Mary-Kate and Ashley's Magical Mystery Mall.

what do you get when you mix banter, Taylor Swift references, a lack of beach scenes and some heavy emotional baggage? our next book, Beach Read!

in this episode, we read quotes that make us cry, discuss the lore of Jack Reacher and pose philosophical questions such as wondering if a book is set on a lake should be called Beach Read, if January is a good name and if we would sleep in our dead father's sex dungeon.

also, we are deep in Queensland summer so we apologise for the intermittent cricket noises!
