Talkin' Kop episodes

  • Episode 9 - Amnesty International
Episode 9 is another international break. We kidnapped Harry Hugo from TBT talks and we get him to give us his views instead of facilitating others. We move into the centre of midfield in our All Time LFC XI and the dark arts are called on.
We have a chat on international football, our general thoughts on the relevance of it, international friendlies and improvements which could bring the international game back to the forefront of peoples minds.
We talk the hind legs off the Everton match and decide we are definitely going to get some form of result involving spartacus and blood and guts.
We have more listeners questions - a veritable pandora’s box of answers.
Finally we announce our daytrip. We have a bus and a spot on the Ferry for the Sunderland Match in March. If you want to be on board contact us at [email protected] or through our twitter feed @thedaytrippers1 or on our facebook page.

  • Episode 8 - We could be Hewoes
Episode 8 lands with an incredible Special Guest joining us in the opening section. We pick our left side of the fave XI and Andy lets us in on his secret footballing ability. We review the win against Fulham and really get into it since there is no match this weekend. We even discuss the negatives (wha!!!)
We then ask James about his favourite topic and if its time he should reconsider the 2011 transfers and was the Kennommoli period of transfers as bad as is accepted given the relative number of misses before and since.
We finish up with listeners questions before we all head off to a football free weekend before ramping up for the Derby.
(and yes we know theres a robot occasionally at the back of the room - he’s the one typing this)
Also remember next week we won’t be releasing until Thursday unless our guests cancel and we have to do it ourselves. If that happens we’ll let you know.

  • Episode 7 -Can you hear me Dublin
Episode 7 lands with a bang and crash. Bizarrely this is far from downbeat. The lads have 2 guests on tonights pod to bring actual knowledge. Our normal fare in the All Time XI continues before we dissect the corpse of Saturdays match and see how much flesh is left on the bones.
We speak with Dave Hendrick of The Liverpool Word, @DaveHendrickTLW, to discuss realistic transfer targets for the Winter which is fast approaching. We also get him to say something nice about Lucas.
We then look forward to Fulham with the rarest of creatures an Irish Fulham fan. Rob Canavan @whitesfan of the Final Third pod joins us to pass on his knowledge before we discuss the likely outcome.
We finish with listeners questions and a logical method of when to employ the Christmas Tree formation.

  • Episode 6 - We’re on the Road Again
So we land in another new home for Episode 6 in the Goat Grill in Goatstown. Someone however forgot to tell the ghosts who kept opening doors. This fails to dampen our koptimism (officially at 83 at time of recording) as we discuss our CB picks for our favourite LFC XI.
We then review the joyfest that was West Brom on Saturday where we get to wax lyrical about 2 good halves, a functioning midfield and a world class striker with another potential world class partner.
Part 3 sees us discuss all things supporters clubs as we talk to Simon Mooney of YNWA Irish Reds SSC (www.ynwairishredssc.com). Everything from benefits of a supporters club, trip advantages, social aspects and all things SSC.
Part 4 we preview the table topping clash v Arsenal and look at our chances and threats as we look to go top. We also have our listeners questions.

  • Episode 5 - The Blackdogs fight the Yarddogs
Episode 5 see the lads go mental in the studio. There’s moaning and anger and slagging and a threat of violence. We move on to left back in all time LFC XI (Riise does get mentioned bizarrely).
Part 2 We look at what happened at Newcastle, why did it happen, how can it be stopped. We say loud noises.
Part 3 is our monthly extended listeners questions where we give out about the players and each other and Martin Maldini but in a loveable fun way. Then fight each other
Part 4 we preview the weekend and have a go at some West Brom players and then fight each other some more.
Mentioned in tonights pod is the new Dublin-Liverpool Fanbus which is being run by the King Harry Bar and Hostel on Anfield Road. Details are on their facebook page DublintoLiverpool Fanbus while all accomodation info can...

  • Episode 4 - Fairplay Sunshine
Episode 4 - Just when we got the hang of what we were using to record we dump it all and head for the Sunshine 106.8fm Radio studios in Dublin. We attempt to sound professional and fail miserably. Best intentions and all that but remember none of us have a clue what we are doing so answers on a postcard. Theme tune is from Cork band, Jonny Rep “wont you agree” which is available on itunes.
In our main feature tonight we focus on Uefa Fairplay regulations and are joined by the man behind www.financialfairplay.co.uk, Ed Thompson, as we try to understand what it is FSG are backing to the hilt and try to clear up why you can stick yisser net spend in the bin.
We preview the Newcastle game and let mystic phil gaze into his magic ball to name the Newcastle side. We introduce the scale of Koptimism and finish off with listener questions.

  • Episode 3 - All Aboard the Funbus
In our third full pod we start our new feature as our contributors name their all time LFC XI starting tonight with goalkeepers. The lads review the Crystal Meth Palace game, discuss the wholesale positives coming out of the result and what they would like to see.
We have Ger Kane for the IrishKop, a founding member of the IrishKop Funbus, in to give us advice on travelling to games without having to resort to travel agents. Ger takes us through how the Funbus came into existence, what it is and how much a ride on the Funbus costs. He and regular stand in Stephen Daly share their knowledge on how to go about a cheap daytrip.
We round up with views on the return of Kenny Dalglish and an impassioned defence of Raheem Sterling.

  • Episode 2 - The Passion of the Hands feat. Martin Maldini
On todays episode our guest breaks down on the way to the studio leaving our lads to discuss Sunderland solo. All positives, negatives and any other stone they could find gets a good turning. Latin hand passion and body language sneaks in, as any Suarez performance demands.
We address the floor with some questions asked by you. Keep them coming to @TheDayTrippers1 or [email protected] - top question chosen was @reddinny’s question - name the player you are happy we didnt end up signing.
Finally we discuss the Palace match and the lads amazingly know some of their players. Also Sexual Football drops gets a mention as does Danny Gabbidon

  • Episode 1 - An Ewe Hope
In our first proper Pod we talk to ex-LFC youth pro Niall Byrne about his time at the club. We delve into the period from when he was scouted through his LFC career and ask the whopper question what were Neil Ruddocks Bicycle shorts made of.
We then get into the bumfest which was Southampton and look ahead to the league cup match with United in Old Trafford. Don’t worry its not too depressing.
We’ll have a separate Episode 1S out later in the week to cover the Sunderland preview.
