Teachers Talk Crime

First off, we think that Duolingo needs to sponsor our podcast, because our Ashleigh is on 20+ day streak. YAY ASHLEIGH! That means we need y'all to tag them in our comments and get them to notice us.

This is Episode 16 and after the happy hour episode we are bringning the tone back down for you. This is less chatty and straight to the case, because we know that last one was a lot to handle.

Today's case is brought you by Brooke and it takes place in Europe. This is the case of Aaron Campbell a 16 year old boy who kidnapped, raped, and murdered 6 year old Alesha MacPhail. On a mission to get high he did the unthinkable, later admitting he was pleased with himself and his actions. Listen for more details and don't forget to leave us a review!

This happy hour episode is brought to you by Ashleigh herself with commentary by Brooke and special guest Lugo! This is the murder of Colleen Ritzer, a teacher in Massachusetts who was murdered and raped by one of her own students, Philip Chism. Philip followed his 9th grade algebra teacher, Colleen, into a school bathroom, strangled her, stabbed her at least 16 times and raped her. He then dumped her body in the woods using a recycling bin from the school. Follow along to hear more and get our opinions on this horrific crime.

Drink of choice for this full moon:
Ashleigh and Lugo were sipping on the NEW 3 canned cocktails by Crown Royal: Peach Tea, Whiskey Cola, and Apple. They said these were amazing and the packaging was 10/10. Brooke, however was sipping on the Vizzy seltzers, because that's all she had, but all in all 6/10.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you amazing mamas out there! You are rockstars, you are amazing, you are beautiful, and you are doing GREAT! So, shout out to all the amazing moms who are a part of the Teachers Talk Crime class!

Today's case is brought to you by Ashleigh. This is the murder of Maddie Clifton. On November 3, 1998, Josh Phillips, 14 years old, murdered Maddie Clifton, 8 years old, and shoved her corpse under his waterbed in his home, sleeping on top of her body for a week before his mother found her and reported it to police. When Maddie Clifton disappeared, the entire neighborhood came together, desperately looking for her, all while she was right across the street. This case has been widely covered and we encourage you to go listen to more about Maddie Clifton.

Loaded Tea Flavor of the week: Daisy Duke (this is a specialty tea with collagen and electrolytes)

Welcome back and happy Monday TTC peeps!

This is episode 13 and we are going all the way across the world for this one. We are International BABY! This is the Stella High school Murders!

The 20-year-old Xander Bylsma's court appearance in 2020 follows an incident in which two girls - Marna Engelbrecht, 17, and Sharnelle Hough, 16 - were killed on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in their dorm room at Stella High School. Xander Bylsma in a fit of jealous rage killed the two girls and stage the crime scene to make it look as though a double suicide had taken place. These two young girls who were just as beautiful on the inside as they were on the outside and were taken far too soon. We hope this case brings awareness to gender-based-violence in South Africa and we can put an end to these horrific crimes.

Loaded Tea Flavor of the week: Fun Dip (Marrryyyy was loving this one, so had to make it the flavor of the week)

Welcome to Episode 11, we hope you enjoyed yesterday's Happy Hour Bonus Episode and we want to APOLOGIZE for the glitches in today's episode. We are recording remotely until May and as always technology is the worse , but we are back to our regularly scheduled program and we got a thought provoking case for you.

Also, apologizes for the length of the episodes recently. We want to make sure you get all the details we find in our research. Bare with us as we work on getting the chat down and the crime up!

Today Brooke brings you the crime, so grab your loaded tea and let's begin. This is the case of Christopher Pittman who was just 12 years old when, in November of 2001 he shot and killed his grandparents in their home while they slept. He then set fire to the home and fled the scene of the crime. Why will this case make you think and your brain hurt? Well, Christopher at the time of the murder was on a drug called Zoloft, an antidepressant, which became he main defense at trial. Listen now and let us know your thoughts on where you stand in the Christopher Pittman case.

On this episode, Brooke will be covering the murder of Sara Starr, a young teacher with four kids who was brutally murdered in a hire for murder plot. This is episode 9 and today's lesson is brought to you by Miss Brantyyy!

On November 12, 2008, 15-year-old Teah Wimberly shot her friend and classmate, 15-year-old Amanda Collette, a star on the school hip-hop dance squad, at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Teah had allegedly been interested in a romantic relationship and became enraged when Amanda rejected her advances. During class changes, Teah shot Amanda in the hallway and fled the scene. Listen for more information on this heartbreaking case and how we got here.

Loaded Tea Flavor of the week: Captain America (It is so pretty and tart)

First and foremost, this is a long episode, but I promise you won't want to miss this. So, grab your loaded tea (maybe a splash of extra caffeine) and let's get into it.

This case involves: werewolves, vampire freaks, an 11 year old, vials of blood, and murder! This is the case of Jasmine Richardson, 11 years old and her "boyfriend" Jeremy Steinke, 23 years old (and yes you read that right). This deadly duo, plotted and murdered Jasmine's entire family in the dead of the night with no remorse, because they felt they were being forced apart.  Jasmine became the youngest person in Canada history to be charged with triple homicide. This is sad, and a little uncomfortable to discuss but, we hope you listen as we get into a case that rocked my world and a plot twist that will leave you angry and confused.

Welcome back to episode 7! Have you tried a loaded tea yet? If you have, don't forget to dm us and let us know the flavor you are loving, so we can try it too!

On this week's episode, Ashleigh is covering a very recent case, almost too recent (quarantine edition). This is the case of Megan Newton, an 18 year old girl who was smart, ambitious and beautiful. Her life was taken from her far too soon by Joseph Trevor, a 19 year old acquaintance of Megan's with troubles of his own. A case of past trauma that was never resolved and an angel in the flesh helping anyone she could. Listen as we dive into the what is and what could have been.
